The Gilded age was period of great invention and modernization. America advanced into one of the world's leading economic powers in the Gilded Age. America successfully built corporations, cities, and buildings. This made some Americans extremely wealthy who lived lavish life. On the other hand, there was also a creation of middle class and immigrants living in tightly packed urban area lived on the edge of poverty. I would say that there were both negative and positive sides. New inventions proved to improve lives such as steam engines, telephone, and the light bulb.
