there are certain situations where your want to be sad but deep down inside you are guilty of being happy which can also be stated as a forbidden happiness. When Louise finds out that her husband has had a terrible accident she reacts like she is devastated which is usually how you’re suppose to react when something like this happens. Then when she in alone in her room she starts to think and actually realizes that she’s happy that now she is free. When she says that she is free it sort of makes you think that she was in a forced relationship where she was not happy. When we find out that Louise’s husband had an accident we automatically think that she will be devastated for a long period of time, but in reality we find out that she is a big happy that she is now free. The situational irony in the story is very easy to notice with her happiness and the accident. We can’t believe that somebody could have even one bit of happiness in his or her body after finding out someone had an accident. The Story of an Hour actually got me thinking what people would think if they believed that I had a terrible accident and had passed on. Would they be happy, or would they be sincerely sad? The story did include an obvious theme, some situational irony and some symbolism.
