Many people reading this may think this is crazy but it is not.
We have this in modern society today. The Government is basically watching every move we take. Almost everyplace we go has cameras that are watching us whether it’s in your school, work, when you are driving, or when you are out shopping, in stores. If you do one thing wrong the Government can look back and watch those videos just like they watch Winston on the telescreens. It may not be in the bathrooms, or bedrooms but they are everywhere. As well as cameras watching us, the government can access our phone as well on social media. Anything that targets the Government gets a Red Flag whether it is about killing someone, bomb threat, ect. This is the same as the telescreens watching Winston’s every
move. In the book 1984 they speak a language called newspeak. Newpeak is a controlled language created by the state Oceania as a tool to limit freedom of thought, and concepts a threat such as freedom, self-expression, individuality, and peace. As 1984 uses Newspeak we have freedom of speech. We can say basically what we want but some words are censored, the bad ones. In modern society we have good and bad words just like in 1984. For them instead of saying “bad” they would say “Not good”.
1984 is still relevant in today's modern society. 1984 was a book for changing the past and looking at the future. This book did predict the future. In today's society we have what 1984 has just in different forms and fashion but mean the same. We have cameras and the government watching us as they have telescreens and the government watching every move they make. As they speak in Newspeak we have a way of speaking as well. hello
