Is Brutus A Hero Or A Villain
Julius Caesar is a classic play by Shakespeare. Though the old English language can be a barrier for some, but one can get through the struggle to find a beautifully written play. In most plays, it is easy to tell who the antagonists and protagonists are, but it can to hard to distinguish what side Marcus Brutus is on in this play. Brutus is a villain because he chose to lead a conspiracy against Caesar and his poor judgment made him kill his good friend. Cassius persuaded Brutus that Julius Caesar would not be a fit Roman ruler and Brutus decided to lead the conspiracy. Brutus noticed that giving Caesar the crown would not be a smart idea. He thought giving the throne to a single man would mean corruption He decided to make sure the republic did not vote Caesar as their leader. Being that Caesar was a good friend of his

If Brutus was not a villain, he would not have killed Caesar. True heroes find different, more humane way to not have Caesar become ruler. Brutus was clouded by judgment and did not see that killing Caesar is not the right way to handle the situation. By the end of the play, he even realizes his faults and the wrong he had done. Another reason Brutus choses to kill Caesar is because he thinks that he will not stay friends with him if Caesar becomes ruler. Brutus does not fully know if this will happens, but assumes the worse. Betraying friendship for what he thinks is for the good of the people is not what a true hero would do. Marcus Brutus killed his friend and betrayed Caesar twice. In this play, it can be very tricky to decide if Brutus is a hero or villain. We can see, though, that Brutus is in fact a villain. His inability to find a better way to not have Caesar become ruler shows that he cannot be a genuine hero. True friends do not kill each other for the sake of power, nor do they betray one
