Is Competition Good?
Is competition good?

Competition is a part of living in a free market society, and it is, in general, a good thing. Competition as we know is the act of competing between two or more people. Both parties fight to strive their goal that cannot be shared between one another. However, it will teach people how to win and lose respectfully without taking it too hard. In my opinion, competition is a beneficial thing in many aspects of our life. It builds up our self confidence, motivates us to achieve our goals set in life and helps us to learn how to deal with success and failures. According to George S. Patton, “Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base.” It is believed that we can gain confidence through with one another. As said in the quote, with competition we overcome our fear and we are not afraid to try new things. We developed our self esteem. Everyone has to experience a stage in life where some competition is need for the development of our self esteem. Everyone will try hard and do their best not to be wiped out by their competitors. So if there is no competition, how can we improve? We may not try new things and do better if we have no competitors. For example, you are shy to sing in front of the whole crowd in the arena so you didn’t join the contest. Few days later, you knew your archrival is competing in that contest so you conquered you fear and join the contest with great confidence. Moreover, people build up their self esteem and become more confidence whenever they succeed. This is due to the fact that they are now capable of achieving something. Apart from that, competition encourages people to be their best. It is because if not, someone else will take the opportunity. It is now easier for us to achieve the goals we set in our lives. Each of us has their own dreams and goals to be achieved. Competition plays a huge role in making our

Competition is generally regarded as being positive, bringing benefits in particular to customers. The advantages of competition are based on the fact that, in order to gain market share, firms need to offer the cheapest or the best quality products to customers. This requires them to operate as efficiently as possible, in a cost effective way while at the same time improving the quality of products and services as much as possible. However, competition also has some negative. Where competition is based solely on price, product quality might be sacrificed because resources that are devoted to competing with other firms, such as the huge amounts spent on advertising and packaging, could be directed to producing cheaper or better products. Also, competition between firms means that, inevitably, some businesses will be forced out of the market, with the economic and human consequences of redundancy and unemployment. Finally, the competitive process tends to mean that successful established businesses gradually take over, for example Nestle…

Competition in most cases is a good thing. Athletes often profit the most from competition because they are forced to give their all on every play. Even a world class athlete, if he has completion will be pushed further and will have to give in to his own agenda (laziness) to remain competitive. Competition in the market place is no different; it combats most company self-interests and instead provokes producers into wealth-creating activities.1 The competitive process I feel also provides an even stronger incentive for producers to operate efficiently and heed the views of consumers.…

Competition can help kids learn how to win and lose gracefully. Many people believe that competition is good for kids and some people have even written books about what they think about competition. According to Po Bronson, author of book Top Dog: The Science of Winning and Losing, “If kids don’t learn to lose they’re going to feel entitled to win,” said Bronson. “They’re also going to make a connection that fear of losing is going to prevent them from taking the risk in the first place. And what kids do need to learn is losing is not that big a deal. They need to learn to lose and go ‘Oh, whatever,’ and move on and keep playing.(“Why Competition Can Be Healthy”). If kids learned how to win and lose gracefully, then there probably wouldn’t…

When it comes to competition, what the graph shows us are the different methods in which two different animals can coexist in their environment. It comes down to the availability of resources such as food availability, PH balance and the temperature. When we look at a competition graph, we see the different animals and plants and how they compete against each other to obtain those resources. The graph also explains how in an environment, different species will pray on each other, but even given this fact they can still coexist. When we narrow down the…

They improve as they try to emulate their competition. Some kids are competitive and being competitive gives you motivation, and consequently being active and…
