Ras is a smart individual that uses all of his brains for terrible and horrible activities. He abuses multiple people including his son Blade. Also he abuses and starved horses that furthermore shows how disgusting of a human being he is. But the worst thing he does is he rapes the daughter of Samuel Lake, Swan. When Sam finds this out he is enraged and furious and takes revenge on Ras. He takes the actions upon himself and handles Ras. “Samuel jerked up with the hand that was holding Ras Ballenger’s chin, and he bore down with the hand that was planted at the base of Ras Ballenger’s neck, and he didn’t stop until he heard the cracking, popping sounds that told him it was finished.”(Wingfield 274-275). What Samuel did at this scene was immoral and unjustified. Even though Ras was an horrible human who did horrible things he didn’t deserve death. Samuel had no rights to take the life of another man. He could have confronted him and told the police but his rage got the best of him. From the unjustified decision he made, Toy Moses ends going to jail because of it. If Samuel never made this decision maybe Toy would still be around and Ras would have to pay the price in jail rather than being underground. Furthermore the revenge that Samuel took on Ras was immoral and was not acceptable, he purposely physically hurt a man by taking his life and for that reason it is
