Pro-slavery Southerner’s used everything they could to make slavery something that wasn’t frowned upon. Several Christian church fathers forbid slavery under their control and used their resources to free them. In my view, many preachers and leaders in the south took scripture out, context to justify their view of slavery. If I knew what I know now I would have stood up for the freedom of slaves. All people are made in the image of God and in God’s eyes we are all equal. If I was a Christian in the south during slavery, I would have argued for the freedom of slaves with the use of the Bible and tradition to show that all men are created equal. I would support the Abolitionist movement go fight slavery by helping slaves escape from their owners and help them to freedom by transporting them and providing short-term shelter. In addition, I would try to use my monetary resources and other Christians’ resources to purchase their freedom. All people deserve the same rights no matter what race. Since so many slave owners were Christians I would have reached out to the church and held meetings with church leaders and preachers to discuss the issue of
