Reference List and Outline Throughout history Islam as we know has been a very heated and hated religion to discuss. Islam like other religions has its own set of beliefs and values that each Muslim follows. Even though Islam has its own beliefs and values, it is quiet similar to other religions. Muslims are peaceful people but like other religions there are radical extremist that do bad things in that name of Islam. This paper will discuss the beliefs, values, goals and misconceptions of Islam, while comparing it to other religions of today. I also will discuss how Muslims and non-Muslims interact in the world today, with some holding extreme prejudice toward one another.
Main points First, It is important to understand what Islam is. Understanding Islam and being able to be sensitive is important. If you don’t understand and educate yourself, making assumptions of Islam will be just that, an assumption. Muhammad (2011) discusses Islam it’s beliefs and values. Second, after we fully understand Islamic beliefs we can understand it’s misconceptions. Islamic misconceptions have existed throughout history. Why Is Islam perceived the way it is compared to other world religions? According to Ahmad (2010) he states “I worry about the religious branding of something that has always been refreshingly secular and/or more multicultural”. Third, as I continue to build upon the beliefs of Islam, the discussion will turn to how Islam, Christianity and Judaism are each unique in their own beliefs, but very different in the modern world. How does the diverse nature of each religion play a significant part in everyday life? In class there have been discussions regarding the role of women.
