Belief in The Life Hereafter
Life after death can neither be proved nor disproved. This is because one would have to undergo physical death in order to prove or disprove it. (Sandhu, 2010). This is the general view on life after death without believing in any religious teachings or beliefs. The Muslims believe in God although they cannot see Him and likewise we are also required to believe in Life after Death, although no dead man has ever come back to tell us his story. As followers of Islam we sternly believe in the life hereafter and the final ‘Day of Judgment’ when everything will be destroyed and the universe and all the creations within it would cease to exist. The Quran supports this by:
“At the time (O People!), when the sky is rent asunder, and when the stars are scattered, and when the seas burst forth, and when the graves are opened, at that time each one (of these people who have wronged their souls) will come to know what he has sent forward and what he has left behind.” (82:1-5) Then the dead would be resurrected and questioned about their temporary life on Earth and will be rewarded or punished according to the balance of their good deeds to the bad deeds in the eternal life.
The Quran says: “Believers! have faith in God and His prophet, in the Book He has revealed to His prophet, and also in the books He has previously revealed and [remember that] he who denies God, His angels, His books and His prophets and the Last Day has strayed far.” (4:136)
Altogether these are the fundamental articles of faith but belief in life after death, belief in One God and His Holy Prophet PBUH, is the most important faith for the Muslims. For this reason the Quran has mentioned the concept of Tawhid with the belief in life hereafter.
The Quran says: “How can you disbelieve in Allah? Seeing that you were dead and He gave you life. Then He
