Understanding Six Poets
Taking into account As For Poets by Gary Snyder, the poem embodies a slew of poetic devices. The central theme of the poem, I shall argue throughout this paper, construes the entity of environment reflected to the role of poets towards their literary works. In this paper, I would like to take a run at exploring the main messages which are brought along the poetry through looking into the symbols employed in the poem and how those symbols construe the meaning and message in the poem. The poem consists of six stanzas in which each stanza contains short verses.
As for poets, as the title suggests, it indicates the intention of the author to reveal something about the poets. It suggests that apparently Snyder has examined some types of poets that he continues putting his notions in his six stanzas. He through his poem elaborates six different kinds of poet which are then explained in each stanza. Those six types of poets are the Earth Poets in stanza one, the Air Poets in stanza two, the Fire Poets in stanza three, the Water Poet in stanza four, the Space Poet in the next stanza, and the Mind Poet in the last stanza. Each poet is intrinsically inspired by miscellaneous things mostly infused by the nature.

The figure of empty house and has no walls that can be seen from all sides at once in the last stanza symbolize that the mind poets are those who eager to set themselves in ecological house. In the sense of Buddhism concept, the house as described in the poem is the house of the Buddha known as the void, one can find it everywhere in the universe. (Tan, 2009). The “un-wall house” concept could portray freedom situation and their poems are open-minded view. It embraces whoever and wherever the humanity is
