Saguaro Federal has mainframes for all of its banks and businesses. Must the company use the Ethernet or Token Ring protocol? Explain your choice. Why is this choice appropriate? I would say Ethernet. Saguaro Federal should most definitely use Ethernet to connect to its Mainframes, and Servers, mostly because of its speed, security and reliability. I would run Fiber Optic cabling using 1000Base-sx, throughout the Saguaro Federal office. This will set them up for the fastest network connectivity available. Ethernet connections can travel up to speed of 10 Gbps. Gigabit Ethernet I get so excited about , but because of its speed and the size of bandwidth would allow large transfers of data through the corporation. Token Rings are an outdated technology, expensive and just not the proper Architecture for this type of environment. The Japanese are businessmen and time lost to them, even seconds, and could result in loss of revenue.

• XYZ Technology Consultants has offices on the second, third, and fourth floors of the office building it occupies. Must the company use the Ethernet or Token Ring protocol? Explain your choice. Why is this choice appropriate? I believe that an Ethernet should be used. When a company which is spread out between multiple floors, such as XYZ Technology Consultants, a Token Ring Architecture is not the correct choice for this type of building. Token Ring Architecture, by design is a way to set up multiple computers together, enabling each PC to pass along information without data collision. However, Token Ring Networks, can also process data remarkably slower than Ethernet Architecture (sometimes as slow as 4 or 16 Mbps). Ethernet, by design are typically used in office buildings that are wired with twisted pair CAT-5 cables, or fiber optic cables for fast transmission of data, with each employee location fitted with an Ethernet jack to connect to the network. Utilizing this type of Architecture, if a problem arises in network

To solve the shared bandwidth problem with the company network new equipment is necessary. First off the 10mbps Ethernet hub should be replaced with a 100mbps, due to its better performance. An extended star topology with a logical switch topology will be the best setup for the situation. As for the five new computers a wireless approach will be best. For this method each new addition will need to be equipped with a wireless NIC (network interface card). To connect these to the network a wireless router and a wireless access point will also be needed.…

However, the insecurity can be solved by using the RIP protocol for information that is less sensitive to the network design (Lathem et el, 2006). Similarly, when the information is redistributed, the traffic may be overwhelming. But the network administrators will have to divide the traffic so that all the routers can each carry their weight of the information. The problems with the flow of traffic will be fixed and distributed through the routers. Each router will be used for certain information and that way the routers will not be overworked. Also the security will be set up so that all confidential information goes through those securities enabled routing protocol. Internet will be purchased internet from the best vendor nearby like Verizon. In the design a router will be installed in each office and lab, then configure them to operate on the network with appropriate security configuration. Finally, the internet connection would come from those routers and all the labs and offices would run on that…

    - First we need to look at all cables and see what will be the most cost effective choice. If using standard copper (Cat6e) you will get gigabit transfer speeds but at only a 328 foot maximum run without repeaters. This cable choice is ideal at the office level with a central switch. If you have to go vertical in between floors and underground, then fiber optic would be ideal. These can go miles per single run and can transfer 100’s of gigbits per second. There is no EMI and is very secure. You could also use multi-run fiber for desktop computers if you require very secure connections that are not susceptible to EMI and can’t be tampered. Most networks today use a combination of both fiber and copper to suit their needs.…

An enterprise level company wishes to set up a network to support several hundred business users as well as manufacturing equipment in a new building. Describe what network device or devices you would recommend they purchase and explain why. Note, you are not required to detail the media or topology utilized, but thinking about these will help you to choose and justify your device choices. I would suggest the purchase of a rack system with two servers on large server to handle the few hundred computers and users and the other to handle the manufacturing equipment. This would give them choices for backups and file sharing between one another. The servers…

The answer I selected was C, because solution that was proposed does not achieve the required results but does achieve one of the optional results. CAT 5 UTP cables being installed to the current networks will not satisfy the any of the results required or optional. The hub should be replaced by a switch which can support the speeds that some of the equipment can handle in this case is upwards of 100 mbps due to the adapter cards. These are options that can be addressed as the company grows, and by installing the higher speed cards it limits the possible future costs of upgrading. Increasing the RAM may help to increase speeds, but purchasing additional servers would be more beneficial in the long term allowing room for growth. While the information provided does not state the amount of ram, additional servers would in fact speed up the network, free up traffic and allow for growth.…
