J. Cole's Love Yourz Analysis
One of my favorite songs, recently, has been J. Cole’s Love Yourz. This song relate to feelings that we can all relate to, feelings of envy and jealously. We often look at the life styles of those around us, and we see what they have, and we compare ourselves to them. We feel that if we don’t live a certain life style or drive a fancy car that we are not living a purposeful life. We fall into the trap of focusing on others blessings and ignoring our own. From personal experience I have done this. I have looked at the blessing of others, and wondered why my blessings were not the same. Before I continue, I just wanted to clarify a misconception. Some people get envy confused with jealously. To me, jealously has a negative and dangerous connation. To be jealous means that you have an irrational hate or anger towards a person, because they have something that you would want. Someone who is jealous cannot stand to see a …show more content…
She gave me 5 pieces of wisdom that helped me get over my envy. The first piece of wisdom she gave, explained to me that I am still very young. Some of these individuals that I am envious are older and have more life experience than me. I should not compare where they are to where I am because we are at different stages in our lives, and I have plenty of time to do all of those things. The second piece of wisdom that I received was if I am envious of others blessings I may miss my own. I hear this all the time, however, it hit me that she is right. If I am continuously thinking about what others are blessed with I will not have time to receive my own blessing. Third, she informed me that I am blessed and others may be envious of my blessings. I realized that I do live a very comfortable life and I have many opportunities at my fingertips that others do not have. I should remember that others would probably kill to be in the position that I am in right

The human mind attaches many senses and feelings to melodies; they are tied to moments in life. Everyone feels the same emotions even though people are all different and unique. Songs are written about all sorts of feelings such as happiness, sadness, angriness, and sorrow. For example, if a person is having a bad day he can find a song relating to how he is feeling. American Idol, a reality show, auditions millions of young adults who have a passion for music and want their talent to be recognized. Carrie Underwood is the season four winner of the show. Since her success in 2005, she has become a very popular country music star by having many hit songs and receiving two Grammy's. The ethics triangle is a model to follow to help militate against unethical decision-making. If Mayor Burns used this model it might have helped him make better decisions. When there is no moral discernment of what is right or wrong, a public official or administrator needs to analyze the situation carefully. However, in the following case study this does not appear to be something Mayor Burns practiced. For the purposes of this paper the case study “Gotta Love Those Bread & Butter Unions” will be analyzed. The source for all subsequent quotes is from this case study.…

Earlier this year, XXL magazine released a video of Desiigner performing a freestyle titled “Timmy Turner”, a bit that surprised a lot of hip hop followers who believed that the guy who delivered “Panda” would be yet another one hit wonder. However, the small, 46-second video upended everybody’s expectations of the young rapper, and created a huge hype over the Internet. Desiigner’s freestyle is everything “Panda” is not: impromptu, melodically complex and sung gently in a hushed voice, rather than rapped in an aggressive style. Because of the ridiculous success that the freestyle had, Desiigner decided to release a full radio version of the song that had the same melodic, catchy hook placed right at the beginning of the piece.…

Soul music, is music that was originated in black America gospel singing, is closely related to rhythm and blues, and is characterized by intensity of feeling and earthiness. Soul music is more of a calming type of music, it's has songs from regret and hate, to love and happiness. The song I've chose was "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge. This song is somewhat slow and also talks about love. And the instruments in this song just make it more enjoyable.…

Jealousy is a part of the world that people as a whole tend to ignore. We as a group of individuals don't want to admit to ourselves that we feel insecure, and want to be in someone else's position. Throughout history a lot of the wars that occurred happen because of rulers being jealous of what other people have. A couple of examples would be the Revolutionary War, and the American Indian war. In the Revolutionary War Great Britain was jealous of what America had in its land and didn’t want the pilgrims to have it all to themselves, so they heavily taxed tham and tried to keep them under their rule so that they could always have it.…

"That is so gay.” “You are such a faggot.” These are two phrases we hear fairly often in our everyday lives and do not really question what they are actually saying. Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few decades, you know the words gay and faggot are derogatory terms for people who are homosexual. Yet theses words are accepted as everyday vocabulary in America. Our society has become so immune to these words that we have forgotten what they mean and how they can affect people. In Macklemore’s song "Same Love” and his music video he addresses society's false preconceived notions on homosexuality, the use of hateful slurs in the music industry, and how we as a society need to stop ignoring the sexual equality movement and…

    Envy Vs. Anger

At first glance envy and anger seem to be simple emotions that one encounters in life. It is not until one looks at the heart of these two deadly vices that one can see their impact on others and society. Envy goes beyond the surface of “wanting” something that belongs to someone else to the core of wishing or actually harming another because you feel they have or are receiving what should belong to you. The fundamental attitude of the envious is directly opposed to love. To love is to seek others’ good and rejoice when they have it. To envy is to destroy others’ good and sorrow over their having it (DeYoung, 2009, p.51). Proverbs 14:30 states, “A sound heart is life to the body. But envy is rottenness to the bones” (New King James…

Jealousy is an evil thing. One of the seven deadly sins, it is notorious for what it can make people do. Even Shakespeare referred to it as the “green-eyed monster”. I was fairly close with this creature, but calling it a monster gives it too much credit. No, a monster is too crude, too overbearing. Jealousy, for me, is something much smaller. It was like an underlying thought stuck in the back of my head. A minute itch that never ceased its irritation. My fingers would scramble frantically, digging into my skin, releasing a burning sensation that provided an impermanent satisfaction. Much like a mosquito bite, every time I entertained Jealousy, the sensation intensified. And, like a mosquito bite, the only cure was abstinence. It came with every friendship, with every interaction.…

An article entitled “Dear, Young Ladies Who Love Chris Brown So Much They Would Let Him Beat Them,” written by Roxane Gay, discusses how some women will allow R & B artist Chris Brown to abuse them without having any consent. The writer also discusses other famous men who have been let off with easy jail sentences or no time at all when committing such a crime. Gay stresses that men are allowed bail too easily in their crimes against women. It’s been this way for centuries, yet we still allow this act of crime to be hidden in the shadows.…
