There is a bright spot in this move, though, and that is Lucien Foster. He is unlike anyone she’s ever met before, and he helps her become more like her old self again. From the Sky is a young adult novel by J.
E. Nicassio. This is really a young adult alien romance as is quite popular right now. The author does a great job bringing in conspiracy theories from Area 51 to the Roswell crash which makes the story even more enjoyable. I also enjoyed the fact that this book was split into short chapters. Since this is really supposed to be a young adult book, I think that makes it easier for the teenage reader as it is easy to pick up and put down or read all in one
setting.
The author was also quite skilled at pacing the story. I was never once bored, but neither was the action non-stop. There was just enough action spaced out in the story to keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think that the story has come to its peak, the author throws in one last curve ball. There is a cliffhanger ending, which I always like to warn about. I know that there is another book planned, but from Amazon it doesn’t look like it has come out yet. However, there is a preview of the new book at the end of From the Sky.
Unfortunately there were two issues that I had with this novel. The first is that it was filled with the typical errors that come from a lack of good editing. While there was nothing major and it did not detract from my enjoyment of the story, there were enough missing words, weird formatting, and punctuation errors to make it worth mentioning. The second issue that I had with this story was that it was almost predictable. Samantha Hunter is the typical heroine in a novel such as this, and I knew what she would do before the author mentioned it. However, having said this, I still enjoyed reading the book. I find, though, that I cannot get enough of this type of story, especially when it is well done such as in this novel. I know that I am not alone in that, and I feel confident that there are many that would enjoy this story even with its predictability.
I did enjoy reading this story, and I am putting the sequel on my radar to look for in the future. Therefore, I rate From the Sky a 3 out of 4 stars. I could not give it a perfect score not only because of the editing, but also because of the predictability. I would, however, recommend this story to those that enjoy a good, clean alien romance, as long as they aren’t expecting anything too out of the ordinary.
