I read summaries which were written by my fellow students last week. Their description encourages me to read this story, specially Reza Hosseini, when she wrote "Jack London also had a great interest in nature, animals and the ups and downs of human relations with them"(Hosseini, (2017,March 1), posted on discussion forum Unit5).

He walked on ice. But it was his misfortune to fall through the ice and get his legs wet under the knees.
Now he had to build a fire himself, to dry his moccasins and thick socks to warm himself. He admitted that "After 50 below zero, a man should travel with a companion."(London,2004,p.75).
He tried many times to build on fire,** he had struggling each time.
However in the end, he failed to build a fire and to obtain some warmth for his body which gradually froze.
The most savage part of the story; when he failed to build a fire, he decided to kill his dog as the man did in the old story, who faced the same conditions. The man killed his animal and went inside the carcass, so he protected himself from the cold and frosty air.
