The last supper was created to show Jesus’s last meal before he was crucified and tortured. It also shows the moment right before his friend was about to betray him. There was tension in the room and it was an action packed scene and Leonardo tried to capture the best part. He tried to make the person looking at the painting to see more just like an author would do to a book.…
The Last Supper is a unique painting. One of the reasons it is so different is that the canvas it is painted on is much wider than it is tall. By looking at the painting you can see that da Vinci is painting a gathering of people with the one in the middle of the table receiving most of the attention. The painting is most likely done on a canvas with simple oil paints. One feature a viewer might notice is Leonardo's use of rectangles. Whether this is intentional or serves any purpose is unclear, but other than the humans in the scene everything is a rectangular shape.…
The Last Supper has been and will be one of the most talked about works of Leonardo Da Vinci 's work of art. The work of art was started in 1495 and was completed in 1498; it contained the event depicted in the bible as the final days when Jesus announced that he would be betrayed by one of his twelve disciples." Leonardo had chosen to depict the moment when Jesus says, "One of you will betray me".1 The painting is located in the dining hall of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan Italy. The painting was commissioned by Duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza. The painting it self has a massive presence of 15 feet high by 29 feet wide. Even though most facts stated that the painted was not completed until three years after it was started. It was also well known that Da Vinci was a procrastinator, meaning the he did not consistently work on the art for a time period of three years but on and off when he had the time, subjects and motivation. It is said that most of his time with the painting was looking for model for the art work it is said that when he working on the picture it 's self he would stare at it for hours and then climb the ladder and paint for hours. Later he would not be seen for days and then show up paint a few stokes ad leave again. Much of the work was sporadically done.…
Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper is a particularly well known painting to say the least. The painting depicts the last supper being shared by Jesus Christ and his 12 disciples. The painting represents the moment when Jesus Christ tells his disciples that one of them will betray him. The painting was made using a technique known as fresco, which caused the painting to deteriorate quickly. The painting was eventually restored and has been copied many times. Even in today’s culture, countless renditions are done of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper; many of the renditions take popular icons and have them mimic Jesus Christ and his disciples. Renditions of the painting vary from new painting styles all the way to scenes in a movie. The artwork I have selected is from the opening credits of a movie known as “Watchmen”. I believe the scene is a good representation of Leonardo’s The Last Supper in today’s pop culture.…
Leonardo's version of the Last Supper was painted El fresco depicting the scene passively without emotion. The work has the supper table horizontal across the lower third and Jesus and his twelve disciples dining behind it, before a backdrop of both man made structure and natural landscape. The artwork is un-cluttered and simple. The lighting is subtle and non-dramatic. Colour is conservative and dull this is partly due to the limited paint available and the technique and decay of fresco painting. The work is very balanced with only one focal point a style that is reflective of the period in which he painted it the Renaissance when the majority lived in harmony. Another attribute of his work, which is typical Renaissance art, is his combination of architectural structures and natural environment. His portrayal of the scene is very realistic and extremely accurate in human form. Leonardo has incorporated the use of drapery to emphasize and create this human form.…
From 1534 to 1541 Michelangelo painted the Last Judgement. The painting was a mixture of male and female nude bodies. Every figure is centered on Christ and appears to be in motion or tensed up like they are about to move. The composition was split into two tiers. In the celestial zone Christ is flanked by angels, saints, martyrs, patriarchs, and the apostles. The terrestrial zone below shows the resurrection of the dead to the left and the descending of the damned to hell on the right. “The elect show the emotion joy while the Damned show torment”(Last judgement…
Leonardo da Vinci. The Last Supper (after restoration).Leonardo’s “Last Supper” is a priceless piece of art with much hidden meaning and obvious talents bestowed upon a wall. Leonardo was able to use his skills in creating a very detailed and a very naturalistic piece of work that would be remembered for hundreds of years. He was also able to create characters with amazing individuality. Not only was his portrayal of the characters magnificent, but the symbolism he used which emphasized the story being told in the “Last Supper”.…
Salvador Dali drew the picture“The Sacrament of the Last Supper”in 1955. This painting has quite a bit of emotion as you look and see how the apostles are kneeling. This image was created to show the futurism in the resurrection of Christ. Futurism rejects the traditional form and include art into modern technology.…
According to The Da Vinci Code, Leonardo Da Vinci 's painting of The Last Supper has numerous hidden symbolisms. For example the book suggest that "the character to Jesus ' right, generally thought to be John, is really female, not male, and is Leonardo 's vision of Mary Magdalene, sitting in the most important…
The painting of the Last Supper is an important event in Jesus Christ’s life because it was his last meal in Jerusalem with his disciples before his crucifixion. According to Christians, Christ foretells that he will suffer soon after his meal and that it will be his last meal. After Christ predicted that he was having his last meal, he gives his followers a commemoration for his body and blood by taking a piece of bread and gave it them saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19). The Last Supper consisted of his twelve disciples who were Christ’s closest followers who were men that travelled with Jesus and learned from him. The Last Supper was also an event where Christ announced that one of his twelve apostles would betray him. The twelve disciples involved were Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James, Lebbaeus, Simon, and Judas. After Jesus’s death, the twelve disciples who were also known as apostles separated and began to spread Jesus’s teachings to others. There are various controversies about the Last Supper, that many paintings are created to show the meaning behind Christ’s last meal. There are various paintings of the Last Supper, but there are two particular portraits that particularly stand out because of the different controversy behind the painting.…

In this essay you will be comparing and contrasting two different types of paintings. The same subject matter but different ideas of the same subject. I will be writing about The Last Supper, which was painted by Giampietrino, after Leonardo da Vinci. He used oil on canvas while painting the piece of art. The year that Giampietrino painted this picture was in 1520. Another work of art that I will be writing about will be The Last supper by Francesco Fontebasso. He painted this picture in 1762 using oil on canvas. As you can see from both types of arts, that they were both painted on oil on canvas and both have the same subject matter which is the last supper that Jesus Christ had. To both of these painting’s in person, you can go to the Royal academy of Arts in London to see the Giampietrino piece and Fontebasso’s piece is found in Museum Fund of the State Hermitage in St Petersburg.…

“Desiree’s Baby” is a tragic short story written by Kate Chopin. The story is about the struggle between the main characters Armand and his wife Desiree. The relationship is torn apart after they come to the realization that they have a quadroon baby or quarter black. Neither of them know that either one could be the cause of the mixed baby. Armand sees this as a curse to his family name and disowns Desiree and the baby. After Desiree and her baby are disowned by Armand, Desiree feels she has nothing to live for. She disappears into the bayou where we can only guess she kills herself. In the end, we learn that when Armand is burning the possessions of Desiree and the baby he finds a note from his mother to his father revealing the truth. It was his mother that carried the blood of the slaves. Chopin uses the story of “Desiree’s Baby” to discuss gender, race, and the inequality between them in a time when slavery and race were mainstream issues of the day.…
It started out as a normal day; birds were singing and the autumn leaves were falling, each golden, crisply leaf floating to the golden carpet of the woodland. Everyone in the village smiled and said, “Hello” as you passed them by, the sun was shining like a shimmering coin. Trees were dancing in the mid-day breeze which lightly blew through the perfect air……
