The most challenging part of being a leader is when your followers do not respect your authority. There are always ups and downs in being a leader. Some days, there are more downs than ups, but as a leader I have to learn from what happened and try to make it better for next time. As a leader of a Boy Scout Patrol can be stressful when dealing with young scouts, around 12-14, that usually do not like to respect their leaders. At the age around 12 and 13, they will listen to what you are saying, but will not do that action that you asked of them. This is challenging for me, and many other Patrol leaders or any other type of leader, because as a leader you want to be heard and when you are not being given that respect it makes you
do more work, which is not a big problem, by trying to get the people to work, and to help them if needed. But, through putting in that extra effort for work to be done it leads your team, or group to success.
The most rewarding part of being a leader is when your team, or group succeeds, and has respect to the other groups while doing it. When your group succeeds in what they are trying to achieve and has sportsmanlike conduct, you get a feeling of satisfaction. This satifsfaction leads to a constant want of success, through being respectful, and giving it your all, that will never lead to a true loss. Win or lose you are learning on how to become better, from the experince.
