Jane Addams: A Short Story
It was a cold night and I lie down in a room with my friend Jane. Her full name is Jane Addams. She had just been on a trip to Europe then Baltimore trying to find herself but I saw that she still wondered what she would do with her life.
"So, do you have a plan now?" I asked.
She cleared her throat.
"I am lost, Raina. But I'm thinking about taking another trip with Ellen."
I nodded my head slowly at her. Ellen was her former college roomate and a really good friend of hers.
"Where to?" I decided to ask.
"London." She says.
"Well I'm going to miss you here in Chicago."
Jane chuckled at me.
"We'll be back before you know it. Maybe I'll find some inspiration there."
I didn't say anything back to that. Jane had always wanted to find something she could do with her life but she was always let down. I wondered if this would be her lucky shot or if she'd come back unsure and sad.

I sat and waited to know what story she'd have from this trip.

"Raina you had to see it!" Ellen exclaimed at me.
They had just gotten back from their trip and they couldn't stop talking about this new plan they were making up in their head. It was all inspired by this place they went to in London.
"Wait, what's this place called again?" I asked.
"Toynbee Hall. This place was like some kind of assistance for people who needed it in that community. It's opened my eyes to so many things and I want to take something from my experience." Jane told me.
"What does this plan include?"
"Well why don't Ellen and I make own version Toynbee for people who need it here in Chicago.." She suggested.
My mind swirled with so many thoughts. All I could think of was the things people would say, do, and think.
"What about the backlash you'll both get? If it doesn't work as well as London's? Aren't you worried about that?"
