I’m wanting to see if there could be anything valuable at mama’s that I could cherish. I have a new boyfriend, Asalamalakim, he’s very fancy and mature. I’m hoping mama and Maggie like him.…

As you can see there are many benefits to having school start later such as, better grades, better test scores, better attendance, and better health. But even though all those positive aspects come out of having school later some people still think that having school later does not have an effect on grades, attendance, or health. According to an article on NEA Today written by Tim Walker, “Unfortunately, concerns about lack of sleep often get the brush-off from schools and even some parents who are quick to blame inattentiveness in school solely on teen behavior, laziness, general indifference, or all of the above. If only they went to bed earlier, concentration and attentiveness would improve,” (Walker “Despite”). Even some of our own parents…

If schools started later, it would give students a chance to have a proper breakfast. Here are the reasons why schools should start later.…

Introduction Throughout my life, I have always heard adults and other authority figures say, “That if your write with your right hand, you use the left side of your brain and if you write with your left hand, your use the right side of your brain.” I have always wondered about this say, but being an uninquisitive person and always respectful to my elders, I just believed what my elders had said and left it at that. However, as I have gotten old, I have begun to question whether or not that statement about being left-brained dominant or right-brained dominant is true because of the new things that became associated with being right-brained dominant or left-brained dominant. If you’re right-brained dominant, you get labeled as being creative and thought, but if you’re left-brained dominant, you get labeled as being logical and detail oriented (Bateman, 2013).…

We’ve been through a lot, KEEP, Hiroshima, Izu, Showa Park... wait I wasn’t really there in all of that. I’ve actually only been here for a year, but coming to ASIJ was a life changing experience, and I feel like I have been here for pretty much my whole life. As this year went by, I already felt like you guys were a part of my family and even in this year, that seemed to fly right before my eyes, we all have been through a lot. Fun times, hard times, sad times, and even those dreadful days with too many tests. Even if this is the American School in Japan, all of us come from all over the world and that’s what makes us global, and I had realized as the year went by that what’s unique about our grade is each and every one of us is different, with our own personality, hobbies, and character. Remember, Bonus 30 SEL guys. I learnt that we all had a unique way of expressing ourselves, which taught me to…

At the age of five, she first entered school at Family Partners Child Learning Center. Sometime during the school year, her parents separated for almost a year forcing her to split up her days with both of her parents–weekdays with her mother then weekends with her dad–making things a lot more complicated for. This was a hard time for her for she did not really know why she needed to be in a different house for several days. In summer following her nursery year, her parents got back together and decided to stay under one roof again, this time in Project 6–in one of her paternal grandmother’s apartments. She then transferred to Montessori Child Learning Center (now Maria Montessori School of Quezon City) for her Kindergarten class, which also served as her second home for 12 years. At a young age, she has transferred to several neighborhoods already but she still remained as the jolly, cheerful girl of the…
