Dear Committee,
I have had the pleasure to have Jean-Paul Sartre in my classes at the École normale supérieure in Paris. I was one of his professors in French Literature. Mr. Sartre has been one of my most valuable students over the year.
The classes at École normale supérieure are most challenging and Mr. Sartre completed them with the added challenge of honors and advanced courses. Mr. Sartre had shown outstanding qualities of leadership and writing. Words were his friends and he and I could have conversations for hours about society and politics. It was not surprising when Mr. Sartre turned out to be an author after he finished his education at École normale supérieure.
I have followed his work closely, impressed by the skills of this young men. What many people overlook is how outstanding his talent is and how hard he worked to be where he is now. In over twenty-five years of teaching, I have known other students with talent equivalent to Mr. Sartre’s. However many of them lacked motivation and a good nature of curiosity, this qualities Mr. Sartre possessed and succeeded in writing marvelous books. Books that are rich in ideas and filled with the spirit of freedom and the quest for truth, his work has exerted a far-reaching influence on our age.
Since my fellow teachers and I have always hold Mr. Sartre in the highest regard, I sincerely recommend Jean-Paul Sartre as the ideal winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. If any questions occur feel free to contact me.
Sincerely yours,
Janiek Bouman
