Starfish are very unique creatures. Starfish are sometimes called sea stars. They are classified as invertebrate Echinoderm. Starfish are commonly found in rocky tide pools and are sometimes found washed up onto shore of all the world oceans. They live in tropical waters and on the seafloors of colder climate. Starfish does not have blood. They have a water vascular system where the starfish pumps sea water through it sieve plate or madreporite into its tube to extend them.…
There was a time in history when the oceans were overly polluted with trash of various sorts. The water was so polluted and the food source for the ocean life was diminishing. This was the habitat of the blowfish. Their food became so scarce they began to eat the very things that were polluting the waters. The blowfish began to mutate with what they were eating. The Bottle Blowfish came to be from a mutation between a plastic bottle and its consumer, the blowfish.…
Monterey Bay is one of the most well known ecosystems in the United States here's a little about it. Monterey bay is home to 525 species of fish, 180 types of seabirds and shorebirds, and Monterey bay has a abundant amount of invertebrates and algae. Monterey bay also has a beautiful environment. Including the sandy dunes, rocky cliffs, rolling hills, steep mountains, and kelp forests. The total length of Monterey bay is over 5360 miles across. In that 5360 miles is the nation's largest kelp forest and canyons. One of the many organisms that live in the kelp forest is the Foliate Kelp Crab.…
The Red Cedar River is home to many interesting and unique species of organisms, including crayfish. Crayfish play a significant role in the ecosystem by serving as a food source to different organisms. By studying the factors that influence the amount of crayfish in a freshwater environment, researchers can discover more about how ecosystems persist. The overpopulation of crayfish in freshwater systems can lead to various negative impacts, such as the feeding on plants that are major food sources for different aquatic organisms and the eating of fish eggs leading to the decrease in population sizes. If there is evidence proving a positive correlation between phosphorus concentration, a chemical element that can enter water through waste or…
In America there is a number of invasive species but the one I chose the Brown trout. The Brown trout is a european species of the salmonid fish family. The Brown Trout’s scientific name is Salmo trutta. It was introduced in the mid 1800’s to america. The reason why the Brown trout is an invasive is because the Brown trout competes with other native species of fish(and obviously wins) and in some cases end up breeding with them. This has conservationist worried about the genetic makeup of the native species.…
Crayfish are close relatives of the Lobster and resemble a small shrimp. They live in freshwater habitats in North America and Europe.…
The vampire fish. That is what the Sea lamprey was nicknamed when discovered in 1835. First spotted in Lake Ontario, researchers were horrified to learn that the Sea lamprey feeds on blood. These parasitic fish latch on to their victims and siphon their blood and other body fluids, sucking them completely dry. What separates the Sea lamprey from other fish, other than their horrifying blood fetish, is their unique body structure. These fish do not have jaws or any other bone structure in their anatomy. Instead of the norm they possess a skeleton that is made out of cartilage. With a unique body set up, comes a unique mouth. It is described to be a large hole filled with sharp, pointy teeth. And this teeth frame a just as deadly tongue.…
After moving to Maine last summer, I was looking for a summer job. I was given the opportunity to fill in as a stern man for a local lobstermen in Falmouth, Maine. I took the offer without hesitating and was very excited to experience lobster fishing first hand on the Jerry Rig II, which was the name of lobsterman Jerry’s boat.…

Additionally, I have provided you with several excellent care resources at the bottom of the article.…
What I learned. I learned the differences between transgender, transexual, and transvestite (cross-dressing). Jennifer Boylan made it understood that she is a “male-to-female transexual” and not a transvestite. She said that the word transvestite sounds “creepy” and bug-like. She believes that it is not about dressing up like a female but mentally and physically feeling like one.…
Also known as "beautiful swimmer," the blue crab is one of the more resilient of Chesapeake species, but its fate depends on many factors. With the drastic decline of the Bay's oysters, watermen began extending their crabbing efforts much later into the fall, the time they would normally have shifted to oystering. A decade later, the blue crab population has been cut in half! Many locals have made a career out of harvesting its seafood, and the annual harvest and many of its other attractions bring tourists and, in turn, revenue for the area. Blue crabs play a giant role in supporting the ecosystem and the community, and we need a way to help. Two solutions towards saving the native blue crabs would be to limit the amount of blue crabs harvested…
Regeneration is the biological mechanism whereby organisms restore lost or damaged cells. This process can be used to replace organs, tissues and limbs on a small to large scale. Each type of regeneration requires different amounts of energy, resources and time. Orconectus rusticus (crayfish), compete for food, survival and mating. They have large claws that are vitally important in competition and survival. This species has developed the ability to regenerate these claws over time if they are lost or damaged. The motives and forms of regeneration in crayfish have evolved due to many factors. The effects that regeneration has are linked to the various needs that have evolved in the…
Some people believe that Sea World is a greedy, profit-seeking organization that couldn’t care less about the treatment and well-being of their animals, but the truth is, the animals are in the best possible care. If the orcas or any other animal at Sea World were anywhere else, they would not get the attention and care they need to survive. Sea World’s reputation was tarnished severely by the documentary, Blackfish, in 2013. “This documentary claims that life at Sea World is cruel and harsh for both the trainers and the whales and that they have attempted to cover up the truth about many incidents involving their whales; both are false (Truth About Blackfish, Sea World Cares.com). Kyle Kittleson, a former marine mammal trainer for Sea World, states, “the documentary, Blackfish, is about 15% correct; one of those facts being in Sea Worlds earlier times, like the 60’s and 70’s, people had a different…

One of the most memorable books of my childhood is called “The Rainbow Fish”. In kindergarten, we read this book almost every day. I don’t know why I liked this particular book so much. Was it the colorful pattern the book cover had? I just don’t know. I thought this book was the most amazing book I ever heard of. When I think of this book, I think about how my teacher helped me and my classmates learn how to read better with this book. My literacy experience started at home. Every one can’t say the same. Sitting in bed every night, waiting on my mother to come tuck me in and read me a bedtime stories. When she finally came, she would walk towards my bookshelf to grab a particular book every night. I never knew what it was called, but I know…
