Jerry Renault Quotes
Jerry Renault had a huge impact on me from the book. He was just a little freshman that nobody would have thought anything more about. He seemed as though he was just another kid to pick on, but it turns out he was something more than that.

Jerry was sought out by Archie and considered to be a potential candidate of the coveted Vigils. Archie saw something in Jerry that nobody else did. As Jerry progressed as a member of the highly powerful Vigils, he noticed just how manipulative Archie Costello was. Jerry let Archie have his way for a while, but once things started to get out of hand, he stood his ground and wouldn't take it anymore.

Jerry may be just a character in a story but he should be an example of the person to be

What I observed in the book of Shoeless Joe jerry would have never figure out how bad his life was before he met ray. Jerry would just stay at home all the time and stopped writing. Once Ray came into his life, he had a little bit of fun on this crazy adventure he went on. Jerry would have never found out about how much he loved baseball and found his passion again for writing. Jerry also helped Ray figure out some things. Jerry helped Ray realize how much more family is important to him by Jerry getting chosen to go with the players. Also Jerry helps ray control his jealousy by saying what you have is good and you need to be there for Karin and Annie. While Jerry gets to go because his family is all grown and they don't necessarily need him.…

    Mitch Parker Quotes

In the play Joker in the Pack by Charles Cohen, the lead character, Mitch Parker, is alienated by everyone in his life. The play leads us to believe that Mitch’s Father frequently bullies him and puts him down and makes him feel unworthy. Mitch’s friends also alienate him as they constantly tease him and physical abuse him. During school, the educators put Mitch on the spot, center him out front of the entire class and compare him to his “perfect” older brother Clifford. But worst of all, Mitch alienates himself by fooling around and not taking things serious enough. Overall Mitch is an outsider in his own life which doesn't do much to help his cause. Mitch’s father alienates Mitch plenty of ways by verbally and physically abusing him and by making him…

Jerry, a callow youth, was on a vacation with his mother, a widow. Jerry's mother has an impregnable instinct of protecting Jerry, which is implemented not only by her parental impulses but the loss of her husband. On the first day of the trip, the child already has an urge to dive into the salty waters of the ocean. All day "as he played on the salty beach... he was thinking of [the wild bay]" (Lessing 76) yet he restrained himself. The only reason why he was restraining himself from diving into the deep ocean was his conscience in going against his mother. While his mother was not a physically a barrier she was still nonetheless an obstacle for Jerry. Only due to his absolute determination was he able ignore his nagging conscience and pass the parental obstacle. His determination enabled him go out "fast over the gleaming sand [and] over a middle region where rocks lay like discolored monsters under the surface [into] the real sea- a warm sea where irregular cold currents from deep water soaked his limbs" (Lessing 78) that was consider dangerous to his…

When Jerry travels to the safe beach and sees his mother, he feels sudden relaxation, while rocky bay is full of challenge and danger. “It seemed to him that long time has passed, and he swam out to where he could see his mother. Yes she was still there, a yellow spot under an orange umbrella.” (Lessing 332) The beach symbolizes Jerry’s childhood, a time when he had to rely on his mother because his innocence and dependency has not left him. Rocky bay symbolizes the difficulties of adulthood, and independence where the danger and challenge lies, which is what Jerry wish for. Jerry’s journey of maturity has been described widely by symbolism, as painful and fearsome situations are described as a challenge while achievement and success of the challenge is symbolized as development of maturity.…

Why did he lie? Those were the four words I kept asking myself. I found out Jerry lied. He had no mother, he had no skates. So many things were going through my mind, “why did he lie,” I kept asking myself while tears started going down my left cheek. I looked up into the sky being reminded of Jerry’s beautiful blue eyes. I get to my cabin, I look to the right and see Jerry sitting down next to the chimney. Therefore, I asked him “why did you lie?” He didn't respond with a single word. I can see his eyes getting watery.…

The character that Jerry talks about and explains the most is his landlord’s dog. He begins by explaining his instant relationship with the dog, one of pure defense: the dog would automatically attack Jerry when he entered the building but never when he would leave. Jerry, not explaining why he wanted the dog to be on good terms with him, tries to kill him with kindness by buying him hamburger meat. Jerry’s persistence in trying to win the dog over shows how Jerry is looking for a relationship or friendship with the dog. This may lead the reader to think that Jerry is looking for any relationship as he does not seem to have very many. Jerry, noticing that the hamburger meat he bought did not change anything, tries to poison the dog with rat poison (which he claimed to have thought he had put a murderous portion of) but does not succeed. When Jerry hears how the dog is sick, he regrets his attempt and claims he truthfully wants the dog to survive so that he can see what their new relationship would be like. This shows Jerry’s reaction to a failed relationship: he either wants the dog to die or he wants to continue trying t form a bond. After explaining the story about the dog to Peter, Jerry goes on a rant about how “…if you can’t deal with people, you have to make a start somewhere. WITH ANIMALS!” This shows…
