Creative Writing: Why Did He Lie
Why did he lie? Those were the four words I kept asking myself. I found out Jerry lied. He had no mother, he had no skates. So many things were going through my mind, “why did he lie,” I kept asking myself while tears started going down my left cheek. I looked up into the sky being reminded of Jerry’s beautiful blue eyes. I get to my cabin, I look to the right and see Jerry sitting down next to the chimney. Therefore, I asked him “why did you lie?” He didn't respond with a single word. I can see his eyes getting watery.

Next, Jerry gets up with tears coming down his eyes, looking straight down. He walks out with me not knowing to go with him or staying. I then see something next to my dog Luna, it was a letter. My hands were shaking

After reading through chapter 7 of the Practiced Writer by Kevin Caliendo I have chosen the topic Cropping. The author has very well gotten the point across on this topic first by thoroughly explaining and making sure the reader knew the true meaning of what the word cropping meant. The author does an excellent job of persuasive rhetoric, she simply persuades the readers with the use of cropping by informing them that it would be as if the person was looking at the photograph under a microscope. The author also persuades by letting the readers know that when a person crops a photo it allows them to add multiple different features to the photograph as well as focus on a certain spot of a photo. In argumentative rhetoric the author simply implies…

explain everything to you in a minute.” said Captain Skillman. As they sat there quiet. Deputy Blake held his head down. “Are you okay?” ask Captain Skillman. “Yes I’m fine, I’m just a little tired.” said Deputy Blake. “Well, we won’t be long.” said Captain Skillman. My division was stationed in Normandy, France, at the time of the Allied invasion on June 6, 1944. Toward the end of August or early September, Canadian troops captured me near Dieppe.10 I was with a small group of men who were cut off from our main company and overrun by motorized Allied units. For several days we wandered around searching for our unit, until one night we strayed into a field camp of Canadian soldiers. You can well imagine the astonishment all around when we suddenly appeared in their midst. The Canadians didn’t have a guard posted. This was probably better for all because otherwise we might have exchanged gunfire. Instead, we peacefully turned over our weapons and in return received cigarettes.…

About noon, on the fifth day of their journey, Charity told Uriah to stop the wagon. Looking around, Uriah did not see anything in particular that caught his attention and did not know why she wanted him to stop; as far as he could tell, there was not anything they needed there. And, his mother had not gotten off the wagon to go do her business or said anything about eating lunch. So, after bringing the horses and wagon to a complete halt, he turned to Charity and asked, “Why did you want me to stop?”…

How could he just treat us all like we were cattle as if it was nothing? The speedometer crept up to 60 miles per hour. Didn’t he care that people everywhere were starving? How could he do this? When he was elected he promised that he would Make America Great Again. 70 miles per hour. I had to get to the rally. We needed change, we could be that change. 80 miles per hour. My thoughts were interrupted as my eyes caught the reflecting glow of red and blue lights paint the night sky behind me. Crap. I pulled over and turned off the car, ready to feed the officer behind me a great line about how my grandmother was on her death bed and wanted me and only me to be at her side. My eyes shifted and glanced to the side mirror, the officer straightened out his already tucked in uniform and smoothed his hands over his hair as he made his way from his cruiser. Great, I thought. I wonder how many reprimands this stiff is gonna write me up for. My record already had 14 points on it for picketing, 6 more and I’d be in real trouble. He knocked on the window…

Nothing seemed to scare him more then the quiet before the storm. It wasn't a familiar feeling for Keith, fear. Often he didn't even spare a moment to worry about circumstances before rushing into dangerous missions head first. Usually he had Lance in his ear, edging him on, filling his head in that calm and confident manner, his voice filling the silence of space. Now, Keith was left to listen to the void, his nerves prickling at his skin underneath his armor. Screw the silence, he thinks, screw Lance and his stupid hero complex, screw the universe for putting him here.…

She was shocked, did Jerry really lied to her all along. I needed to talk to him. Poor boy, how long did he go without a mom. But why, why would he lie about his mother. I went back to the cabin. Could it be possibly the reason he was lying was because he wanted a mother so bad that he pretended to have one. I couldn't stop thinking about it. The next day jerry came to chop some wood, as he usually did, but today was his last time working for me for the next day, I was going to head to Florida. The woodlands lay in complete darkness ahead of them, no insects buzzed or night birds called out to break the silence. Sorrow led the way, a grey ghost in the shadowy recesses among the trees. He scouted ahead, eyes and ears alert for danger. The others followed as best they could, staying close in the pitch black of the woods. Once the wolf-dog alerted them to a party of Goblyns in the trees ahead of them and they had to double back. Jerth and Jakth led the children silently through the maze of trees and dense shrubbery. Skirting the area where the Goblyns were, they found another path and continued cautiously on their way. Soon the trees started to thin out a little, marking the edge of the woodland. George told them that they should follow…
