Jew Merchant Journal Entry

I’m going to compile a series of journal entries to describe my experiences as Jew merchant as I go through different towns selling goods to Islamdom, and Christendom. My journey beings at Delhi my homeland, and I hope to through as many towns as possible. With me I have cotton, silk, gems, spices, fine wools, silk, and weapons. I’m hopping to sell or trade my goods for other goods. Since I’m traveling long distances I will travel in a caravan with other merchants who have the same goals as me. By traveling in-group, it protects us from thieves who will steal or kill us. My first stop will be in Lahore. January 5th 1200, we arrived in Lahore, a Muslim town, as we settle through the town, I set my shop. As the day went trough I met Mohammed, who told me more about Islam so I can learn more about it and to relate more to the people. The first question I asked Mohammed was that why do women never stop by? He replied, “When you meet a Muslim friend, their wife’s never take the initiative to talk to you” I also learned that man can have multiple wives 3 or even 4 wives at the same time! As long as he treats them with respect each, and he gives them attention when they need it, he can marry whomever girl he likes. The Cathedrals here were really beautiful. Cathedrals were learning tools about Christianity. There were sculptures outside of the cathedral representing heaven and hell. Inside the cathedrals, there were a lot of paintings on the walls and by looking up on the ceiling. While in Paris, I also saw a university, which was influenced by the Muslims. Trade has comeback, bringing stability to Christendom. During this time there was a lot of movement of people (ideas), towns have been re-populated, order is restored, and Christianity is stable.
