Jewish Family In Antevka

In our Jewish community, we aren’t really that Jewish. We might follow the religion, but we don’t all pray when we should, and we aren’t all people who don’t sin. Of course none of us are perfect, but in our community being a perfect Jew isn’t one of the priorities. Our priorities include success in school, sports, and everything that we try to accomplish in life. In Anatevka, those are extra activities that most don’t get to undertake in their lifetime. They spend their days either helping their fathers with work, or they help their mothers with the chores around the house. In order to find marriage and start a family in Anatevka, the father has to approve and the daughter has little to no say. In modern days, kids can choose who they want
to date and when. They even have the privilege of dating before marriage. Although children to want the approval of their parents, it isn’t a necessity and most parents will still accept their children.
But just like modern days, in Anatevka everyone is a community. Because the Jewish people are such a small part of the world, when you find a place that accepts them you meet everyone. You become friends with them which often leads to your children being friends. You share almost everything and are a little too close for comfort, but it is all for the good. Everyone is one big family.
