Jim Henson let his creativity flow by creating many of Sesame Streets characters you know and love today, such as Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, Guy Smiley, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch and even the pleasurable character that is Kermit the Frog. Jon Stone who was responsible for the writing, casting, and formatting for Sesame Street at the time felt that if they could not bring Jim Henson on board, they should "make do without puppets".
