“Mr. Lerman wants to see you,” said Tom. When they arrived at the stadium, Jim was a little bit nervous. “Don’t worry, there’s something for you,” said Tom. Then they entered the manager’s office. Mr. Lerman was sitting on his chair as usual. And he was smiling to Jim. “Um? What happened?” Jim was confused. “Jim, remember when you said that Coach Jefferson was cheating?” asked Mr. Lerman to him. Jim nodded. “What you said, is actually true. A few days ago, I saw what he did and report it to the director. He’s already fired now. I’m so sorry I didn’t trust you that time,” Mr. Lerman apologized. “It’s okay, Sir,” said Jim. “As an apology, also a reward, I’ll let you join the national team. Tom said that your skills were awesome, I’d like to see you play as a team member, how about that?” said Mr. Lerman. Jim was surprised. “Of course! Thankyou so much!” Jim answered

Peter was expected to follow in his brother Joey’s footsteps. This is never fair. Joey was a kid that everyone liked. He was athletic, a straight-A student, and people just liked him. But Peter wasn’t like that, and nobody paid much attention to him or at least the kind he would have liked to receive. He never got a chance to show people who he really was. The only one who did pay attention was his best friend Josie Cormier, until she turned her back on him in 6th grade. Just after that, Peter’s mother signed him up for soccer. It seemed like his mother’s reasoning for this was to “help” him become more like Joey. He tried to give his all, but sat on the bench every game they had. Beside him on the bench was Derek Markowitz who was a lot like Peter. They soon became friends, but it never changed the way people would look at Peter.…

This tale of two brothers, narrated in the first person by the younger (the carefree, irresponsible but unknowingly brilliant one) about his older sibling, (the dour, studious but irredeemably mediocre one) is a study of contrasts of many kinds: a contrast of mindsets and approaches to life; a contrast of tradition and modernity, and a contrast of natural brilliance and natural dullness. No sides are taken by the writer in this hilarious study of two people who should be alike in every way, but are obviously touched by different…
