NCO Doe got very angry at Mary Jane and forcefully slapped her across her face.
He then turned off the television and ordered her to go to bed. Mary Jane went to school the following day with a subconjunctival hemorrhage in her proximal eye. The teacher, Mrs. Jones, noticed Mary’s eye and asked what happened to her left eye. Mary elucidating to Mrs. Jones that her father had slapped her in an impulsive manner. Mrs. Jones immediately contacted the CPS and made a report of child abuse. NCO Doe was arrested by the local police for child endangerment and CPS filled a report because of the allegation of child abuse. Medical evaluation was instructed for Mary Jane. The results from the physician are included in the article. Besides the CPS investigation, the military also did an investigation and determined that there was no full evidence of child abuse. concluded. The author’s main focus is to inform the reader about the seriousness of military personnel and child abuse and negligence. Although the author does not state that every military personnel that is a parent is abusive, He does state that there are more military parents who are abusive rather than the normal population. The case study presented is very interesting because us as normal parents do not realize that child abuse happens that often. I completely agree with the actions that the CPS worker took. I believed that any child that is being abused or is suspected of being abused should be reported. I personally would have reported the abuse the same way Mrs. Jones did because she felt that the child’s wellbeing was more important than John Doe’s way of instructing his daughter. There are many considerations that we as non- military parents should realize. One being that military personal who are deployed or who are training live in a complete different world than ours. By this I mean that they often stress about things we could never imagine stressing about : seeing their friends get killed in war and being away from their love ones. These are just two examples that concluded why I partially understand the stress these military personal experience. Although military families may have more factors in to why stress and their emotional status can lead to child abuse, to maltreatment, and to domestic violence, this excuse still does not make it right. A military personnel or any normal person should be responsible enough to get help when dealing with emotional and stressful situations before it's too late.
