Kennedy ran for many strong positions, which in these positions were able to influence many people to follow his ways. Being born into one of the wealthiest families also helped Kennedy run his race's (History). Anytime Kennedy was with his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, they were both smiling, laughing, and always together even though he would have to spend most of his time working. From this Kennedy was seen as the most eligible bachelor in the Senate (Cawley). With his past experience in the war and first-hand experience with a near-death situation, Kennedy was already able to make quick decisions and choices. Next, he ran for The House of Representatives in the 11th district of Massachusetts in early 1952 (Sellen). In the later months of 1952, Kennedy defeated Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. for a position in the US Senate and remained until 1960 (Peterson). He was able to defeat him running for this position with his persuasive skills and high influence on the people. After being in the US Senate, he knew that he could do better and achieve higher, so he decided to run for president and was elected in 1960. He became the youngest and first Catholic, and 35th president. (History). In the end, he was said to have won visual appearance and self-confidence against Nixon in the presidential election (Cawley). During his presidency, Kennedy was able to communicate with other world leaders to enforce his thoughts and views on the ban on nuclear weapons, which was very effective by saving the country from outside forces.
