John F. Kennedy was born May 29, 1917 to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and Joseph Patrick Kennedy. He had 8 other sibling 5 sisters and 3 brothers. John F. Kennedy was named in honor of his mother’s father, John Francis Fitzgerald, the mayor of Boston. When John was at a young age his family and friends called him Jack. He wasn’t three years old when he became sick with scarlet fever which is very contagious and very life threating. Throughout his life John F. Kennedy was never very healthy.

Kennedy was very popular at Choate, a boarding school for adolescent boys, which was in Connecticut. His friend Lem Billings remembers that John had a daily subscription to the New York Times he found this very unusual. He had worked hard in every class due to the fact that he wasn’t the best student but the only two classes he didn’t have to try in were history and English, which were his favorite subjects in school. His Head Master once noted that John had a “clever, individualist mind”.
John F. Kennedy graduated Choate and was accepted in Harvard in 1936. His brother Joe was already attending the school so John decided that he would stick by his brother’s side. This program still exists to this day. The programs helps people find work but will only be considered volunteer work. There are many places they would be able to work, but just a couple of the fields that are available are Health Care, Education, and Construction. For many people who have or are being employed in the Peace Corps volunteering positions they have earned respect from so many people throughout the world.
President was the first to ask Congress to approve more than 22 billion dollars for project Apollo. This project had one main goal that President Kennedy wanted to accomplish. He wanted to have an American man land on the moon. President Kennedy wanted to have this goal accomplished by a certain time limit. He wanted to land the American man on the moon before the decade was over.
Many civil right leaders did not think that President Kennedy was supportive of them. President Kennedy didn’t want to start riots or protest because he feels that it will only anger the white men even more than they already are.
