eight years later he decided he was going to run for president and for the democratic party. After a long presidential election JFK won. As a president JFK made many decisions that made him and our country who we are today, for the better or the worse.
JFK had many strengths but there are two that really stand out and one is his relationship with his family which is what all a person could ask for, although being president it didn’t stop him from spending time with his family, “October 16, 1962, 8:45 a.m.
The president of the United States is rolling around on the bedroom floor with his children.”(O’Reilly and Dugard Pg. 105) The other strength that sticks out when you think about JFK is his competitiveness and desire to be #1.“Perhaps the most striking similarity between the two men is that Kennedy and Castro were the sort of highly competitive alpha males who never accept losing, no matter what the circumstances, no matter how high the cost.” (O’Reilly and Dugard Pg.48) Lastly JFK’s weaknesses, which was limited to very few but everyone has them. One that sticks out and is notably the worst one was what he did to Jackie which she knew was sleeping with women, he would sleep with them when she was out of town or right in the white house, “but one day the First Lady appeared at the pool door, eager to go for a swim. This had never before happened. The panic-stricken agent barred the door and tried to explain to Jackie she was not allowed to use the pool, JFK heard the commotion, quickly pulled on his robe, and fled the pool just before he could be caught.” (O’Reilly and Dugard Pg.75) If you didn't get the point JFK was swimming with women while Jackie was in The White …show more content…
House.
JFK in his time in office he had many decisions, from The Bay of Pigs to which girl he was going to sleep with the next day. However, one decision that he made was his relations with Frank Sinatra. Sinatra and Kennedy were friends they shared a couple drinks together and a couple women as well. While Sinatra and Kennedy were friends he gained voters and outside people he wouldn't usually appeal to, Sinatra sang a song mentioning JFK and Sinatra was big at the time and people would think if Sinatra likes him we like him. But just like everything else in the world this friendship came to an end. “The forty-six-year-old singer had been anticipating this visit for months. He has purchased extra land next to his property and built cottages for the Secret Service. He has installed special state-of-the-art phones lines. A gold plaque has been hung in the bedroom of the president will use, forever commemorating the night when “John F. Kennedy Slept Here.” Pictures of JFK hung all over the main house. A flagpole is erected so that the presidential standard can fly over the compound. And most important, Sinatra has built a special new cement landing pad for the president's helicopter.” (O’Reilly and Dugard Pg.80) Kennedy must keep his relations with Sinatra at a distance will he is being investigated by the FBI. Therefore JFK has Bobby Kennedy his brother call Sinatra and break the news and Sinatra can’t believe it. He is furious and becomes even more angry when he finds out Kennedy is staying at Bing Crosby's house. Sinatra eventually runs around and tears down the pictures of Kennedy, and then finds a sledgehammer and races outside and begins destroying the helipad.
JFK was one president who probably had one of the most interactive presidency, he was very active with other women, and one person who has a broad name was Marilyn Monroe.
“Kennedy first met Monroe at a dinner party in the 1950’s”(O’Reilly and Dugard Pg.80) But after JFK was accepted into being the democratic nominee for president was when things started getting closer between the two. The night he got selected Monroe and Kennedy flirted and talked all night long. Meanwhile Kennedy’s staff thought this would ruin his chances of becoming president if the two were caught having sexual relations. “Patricia Kennedy Lawford went so far as to pull Marilyn aside and warn her not to have sex with her brother.” (O’Reilly and Dugard Pg.81) But two years later Kennedy's sister invited Monroe to a dinner party at her house in the New York area. As Monroe walked in late to the dinner, it was obvious that she was drunk. Later that night JFK sought out to talk to her and invited her to meet him in Palm Springs, stating “Jackie won't be there.” “Now Monroe wears a loose robe as the party swirls at the Crosby estate” (O’Reilly and Dugard Pg. 82) Bringing the president closer to what he wants. “Kennedy would be thrilled to add such a famous sex symbol to his list of conquests.” (O'Reilly and Dugard Pg. 82) The interactions between the two may have been against Kennedy's religon but going back I don't think Kennedy cared too much about it due to the fact he had already slept with numerous
women. Monroe begin to think that she would become the first lady although JFK had told her she wasn’t “first lady material”. No matter the interactions that took place in Palm Springs while Jackie wasn't present. After all Monroe decided to give JFK something to remember her, but JFK would never forget the times with sex symbol Marilyn Monroe. As a president JFK made many decisions that made him and our country who we are today, for the better or the worse. Despite the failed mission in Cuba, and the numerous amounts of women JFK slept with he was an iconic, hardworking, and determined president. He wouldn’t say no to a challenge and if accepted he would work relentlessly to make sure he got the job done. That is why I and many others believe JFK was a great person and furthermore President of The United States.
