Presidential support
Intro here…
One reason why John Kasich would be the best choice for president is because he has reduced uninsured rates in Ohio. Unlike most Republicans, John Kasich has expanded Medicaid in Ohio. For Ohio this has been a tremendous success, each year more and more people are becoming insured both nationally and state wise for Ohio. According to a Cleveland news website the U.S. Census Bureau released information about uninsured rates in the U.S. the article states, “Nationally, the uninsured rate dropped 13.3 percent in 2013 to 10.4 percent last year (referring to 2014)” (source 1). The article further states “Ohio’s uninsured rate dropped from 11 percent in 2013 …show more content…
to 8.4 percent last year. Just nine states had lower rates. (2014)” (source 2). This information proves that John Kasich is willing to support other views, even if those views are not “Republican”. The point is, in order to maintain and keep a country united people have to make sacrifices to help better the nation.
Another reason why John Kasich would be an exceptional President is because he supports the Second Amendment. With the rise of school shootings and homicides many people believe that discontinuing the Second Amendment would help stop crime and shootings. Getting rid of guns without a doubt would decrease these horrific shootings, however this will never stop crime. Crime can never be stopped due to one problem and that problem is human nature, people will always resent others, people will always hate, and people will always find a way to unleash their hate and resentment. In a Boston news website an article was written about a Harvard publication, the publication was researched by Don B. Kates, a criminologist and constitutional lawyer, and Gary Mauser, Ph.D., a criminologist and professor at Simon Fraser University. The question that was being asked was “Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide?” these two men researched the relationship between gun laws and death rates “ Kates and Mauser looked at and compared data from the U.S. and parts of Europe to show that stricter laws don’t mean there is less crime. As an example, when looking at “intentional deaths,” or murder, on an international scope, the U.S. falls behind Russia, Estonia, and four other countries, ranking it seventh. More specifically, data shows that in Russia, where guns are banned, the murder rate is significantly higher than in the U.S in comparison.” (Source 3). This shows that banning guns in the U.S. would not necessarily stop crime.
The reason why the second amendment should be protected is because it ensures our protection.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” (source 4). The second amendment is most important because it allows the people to intervene if the government is performing tyranny. If we the people were deprived of this right that means that we would be giving up our freedom to fight against …show more content…
tyranny.
The final reason why John Kasich would be the best choice for president is because of his experience in politics.
One of the most important things that some candidates don’t have is experience. It takes great experience to become an exceptional leader and this is perhaps one of Kasich’s biggest assets. One example is his experience as a member of The House of Representatives for 18 years from 1983 to 2001, while there he was a member of the Armed Services Committee and chairman of the House Budget Committee. During his time there he helped support the Balanced Budget Act in 1997. Another example of his experience is that he has been elected governor of Ohio twice. In 2010 John Kasich was elected governor of Ohio, during his time there he helped balance budgets and bring uninsured rates down.
If John Kasich is elected president he will help unite this nation and help solve the problems of the American people. To conclude John Kasich would be an exceptional president because he has brought down uninsured rates in Ohio, he supports the Second Amendment, and his experience as a member of the House of Representatives and as Governor of
Ohio.
