John Proctor The Crucible Analysis

In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, John Proctor, who lives in the town of Salem had cheated on his wife. Since John Proctor is motivated by lust, because of his decision to have an affair with Abigail creates his death by the end of the play. Although John Proctor is motivation, he feels bashful for cheating on his wife by having an affair with Abigail Williams. However, Abigail is determined that John is going to leave his wife to be with her. Abigail had told him that he is a strong man with a sickly wife; “You’ll speak nothin’ of Elizabeth.” John protects his wife because he loves her not Abigail. At this point he feels guilty because of what he did. Abigail says that Elizabeth is blackening her name, in the village. John knows that his
wife will never tell a lie One thing John is trying to do, he is trying to protect his name because that’s one thing they can’t take away from him, is his name. John is living in lies, everything Abigail is saying she is lying so she can kill Elizabeth and be with John. As this play goes on what happen is that she keeps lying to get John’s wife in trouble and trying to get her killed. John gets more and more worried and furious. He is furious because all these things that Abigail is saying are lies about his wife. The court takes her away and put her in jail. That’s when he takes Mary Warren and forces her to talk to court and tell the truth. Even though he forces her to tell the truth, John Proctor makes a confession himself. John had made his confession that he had an affair with Abigail Williams to the court. He calls her a whore in front of the judges. However this whole time he has held it in the truth came out. “I’ve known her sir.
