The fact that this work created great controversy among political leaders and status quo advocates around the country speak to the power of his writing in The Grapes of Wrath. This power and influence shows Steinbeck’s historical significance in Literature as many of the topics he wrote about are being expanded upon today. Another area that Steinbeck’s significance as a writer is clear is in his ability to communicate imagery in his words. The book, Of Mice and Men, I feel is filled with clear imagery throughout the entire book.
From the setting, to the characters to the feelings depicted as you read your mind is filled with clear pictures of what is happening in the book. I believe this speaks to Steinbeck’s unique style of writing that stands out among his peers. For me, reading a book with that clear and rich imagery makes reading so much more interesting than other books that do not create the same imagery. Steinbeck’s ability to communicate the struggles of the average American is what truly sets his place as a significant and relevant writer in American history. He was able to give a voice to the average person in an era when times were hard. He connected with the American people on the concept
