East of Eden and The Grapes of Wrath both contain great writing style and moral lessons that apply to the average person. Both of these books involve the hardships of middle class workers who try to overcome the classification systems. Some fail, some succeed. This novel was a success, but some critics of the school board say that it introduced communist propaganda, and promotes racism (Grapes of Wrath). This led the School Board to eliminate all of these books from certain states; but this didn’t mean that the public didn’t accept these books.
