Johnny The True Hero In John Hinton's Johnny
Johnny is the main hero in this book. He saves kids, he give pony something to think about all his life. Johnny thinks of other people before he thinks about his own life. He wants to help people all the time, but out of that he gets beat up.

Johnny acts like a hero in two parts of the book. First of all he acts like a hero in the fire where he saves those kids, anyone that's going to risk their lives for someone else is a so called hero. Secondly he acts like a hero when he is on his deathbed at the hospital and Johnny comes in to talk to him before he goes, and he tells Ponyboy to “stay gold”.
He also gets beat up by his Dad and he is always yelling at him. He kicks him out of the house sometimes. His Mom is not very good either,

The reason why he is a hero, is that he saved Johnny and Pony many times. Dally helped them find a place to stay when they were fugitives; gave them money and a gun; and when he risked his life to save the kids from the burning barn.…

Johnny’s last words to Ponyboy were,”stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold…” Johnny meant by this that he wanted Ponyboy to stay the same and not change. Johnny says on page 148,”stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold…” this relates to the poem that Ponyboy tells him on page 77. He means this because in the poem Ponyboy says it goes natures first green is gold bult nothing gold can stay. That’s why Johnny wants Ponyboy to stay himself for as long as long as he lives because he is a really good kid. I believe that Johnny doesn’t want to change that’s why he says this before he dies.…

Throughout the Outsiders novel, one can see that despite everything that Johnny has done, he was still considered a hero. At the start of the book, Johnny was very modest and would never move out of his comfort zone. However, as the novel proceeds, he developed into a complex hero because of his courage, responsibility, and acts of kindness. In the book The Outsiders, it has been proven that a hero may be found in the most unlikely of individuals, including supposedly introverted boys, like Johnny Cade.…

In addition, Johnny is a hero because he is brave. He ran into a burning church because he wanted to save the children in the church. As Johnny was dropping off the children at the church, he saw the church starting to crumble. When he saw that he shoved Ponyboy toward the window and yelled, “‘Get Out,’” (Hinton 93). This further demonstrates that he is brave trying to save the children in the church and how h e first thought about the children when he saw the church burning. You may think that Johnny is a hood because he killed Bob, but he did that to save Ponyboy.
