1. B. Think about one of your most challenging academic goals. Decide who you think can help you master this goal. Write a letter to this person and request assistance.
Dear Mr. Woodbury, I am serious about earning a 3.75 college grade point average at the University of Florida majoring in Computer Science. I have always aspired to be a lawyer and patent law seems the most interesting to me. I know that you are a highly motivated, intellectual individual, and I figure you could give me some advice or mentor me along this path to help me achieve my dream. To me, you are the epitome of what a successful citizen is, and the fact that you have earned two masters degrees, you are the father of four, and still have the time and desire to give back to your community through teaching speaks wonders about who you are as a man and I envy that. As a young student in your AP World History class
I can honestly say you positively changed my life.
Nowadays, it’s really competitive to get accepted into any major law school, and I know you could give me advice on how you plan out your life to maximized your successes in college and in life. I am highly ambitious, and you are one person I have always admired and respected. I’m not very comfortable asking for help because I am very egotistical, but I know by not consoling with anyone I am only limiting my own success ceiling. So, if it is alright with you, I would like to request your guidance and advice when planning out my collegiate future. Sincerely, Stewart Wallace
