Racism is part of America’s culture to this day, and will most likely never go away. In many circumstances a stereotype comes into play, which then leads to a judgement based on a prejudice that that specific person fits into that specific racial category. The person however may not even fit into that category, making a wrongful stereotype. This topic is very specific and confusing, which can be inferred by my previous statement. The article, “The Power of Prejudice” states, “Those perfectly articulated and wickedly poignant verbal smack-downs of prejudiced offenders may happen in films and literature but occur far less frequently in real life.” (Enayati, Amanda) This quote shows that these “smack downs” do not typically occur in real life, and this is due to the surplus of technology that is available to us today, as well as how easy it is to say whatever comes to mind while hiding behind a username. Gender inequality is still a very recent topic, which shows that again we have come far from the notion that women must stay home to raise kids and don’t belong in a workplace. However there is still a noticeable pay gap between women and men, and the issue of feminism which encompasses the equality of both genders. Overall even though america has improved on these subjects, we are still lacking and should be far past these shallow minded, ignorant ideas, which make it very easy to be judgemental of
