Junior Non-Commissioned Officer (Nccs)
Junior Enlisted are Privates (PV1 and PV2) Private First Class (PFC), and Specialist (E-4). Promotions are based on time in service and time in pay grade. A Specialist can earn their rank after serving at least two years in service and attending specific training classes.
The Army considers all Corporals (E-4), Sergeants (E-5) and Staff Sergeants (E-6) as Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) and are given the same respect and any NCO. The Corporal is at the base of the NCO rank. They serve as unit leaders and team leaders. They are responsible for the individual training, personal appearance and cleanliness of the soldiers below them.
Sergeants operate in high speed environments. They have the greatest impact on the lower ranking

Smith were in the forefront of combat, leading their Marines and setting the example under the toughest battlefield conditions. Able needed heavy fire support. Sgt Smith determined to find it. He moved out on foot and located three Sherman tanks. Leading them forward, he pointed out Japanese defenses for the tanks to engage. Under his fire direction, the Sherman’s destroyed numerous enemy positions at point blank range. Sgt. Smith continued to lead by example. Seeing wounded Marines trapped in front of the enemy's positions, he made several trips across exposed terrain to rescue four wounded comrades. He also organized litter teams to rescue other trapped Marines.     PV2 stands for Private Second Class and is the second lowest rank in the enlisted personnel rank structure. Being a PV2 requires a Soldier to stand at the position of parade rest while addressing all ranks that are above that Soldiers rank. The Soldier should always remember that they are part of the team no matter how low of a rank they are. They serve the people of the United States which is one of the most honorable things any person can do. The Soldier should live up to the Warrior Ethos each an every day. Those ethos are: "I will always place the mission first", "I will never accept defeat", "I will never quit", and "I never leave a fallen comrade." The Soldier will remain disciplined at all times in all situations. The Soldier will study their Warrior Tasks and Drills and be proficient in them at all times being able to answer basic questions about basic tasks anytime they are asked. The Soldier is to always keep accountability of their equipment (and weapon when applicable). The Soldier shall always keep their appearance to military standard maintaining a presentable appearance at all times. The Soldier should also be able to define the Army Values when asked and to carry them out at all times. Those values create the Acronym of "LDRSHIP". Those letters stand for Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless-Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. As a PV2 it is the Soldiers responsibility to seek answers to questions they do not know how to answer or guidance in doing tasks that they are not sure of how to do.     The rank structure goes back to the 1700’s. The rank structure was put into place so that the soldiers had someone that was there to give out orders; also the rank structure was there to teach the newer enlisted respect. If the rank structure was not in place, there would be no order or discipline in the army. The United States ARMY is the World’s strongest army. And it is all because we have order and discipline threw out all of the ranks. When we know that the person out ranks us we need to show the proper respect that they have earned through being in the military and doing their job.
