Justification by Faith

August 20, 2012 Knowing that a man is not justified by works of the law but, a righteousness which comes from God. We know that a person is justified not by works of the law but through the faith of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the work of the law. In Isaiah 45: 25 say in Lord shall all the seeds of Israel be justified and shall glory. Justification is the process of one being made right through the word of God. This is the way that one can be cleansed and to restored to God through Christ. In (Romans 1-16) it says “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth: to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Further in (Roman 1-17) it states for there in is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written. The just shall live by faith. In the first verse (Romans 1-16) Paul show his Zeal to preach the gospel to the people of Rome. Yet the Apostle lays his foundation when he uses the term the righteous will live by faith. Verses 16 and 17 are important part to Paul’s letter to Rome. The Apostle Paul states he is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ through God. His advocacy of the law was one his strong points that he would use in his doctrinal letter to the church in Rome. The Apostle Paul seems to give favoritism to the Jews. Other time he is critical of the Jews. The term “righteousness of God "in verse 17 means a righteousness that brings love and salvation, this can also mean a righteousness that is faith from first to last. The standard theme saying the righteousness shall live by faith. The power of God brings salvation for everyone who believes: first the Jews, then

The purpose of Christ isin Romans 8:1-3, it is that through Jesus Christ one is no longer under condemnation, one is justified through Him!How does this come to be in a person’s life, by faith? Romans 5:1 tells the believer that they are justified by faith, not only justified but now have peace with God. This is confirmed for those that live by faith in this good news in Romans 10:4. Once again Paul leads us into a deeper understanding of our lives with Christ, now that we are justified, we also have been sanctified.Paul tells us in Romans Chapter 15:16 that it is the Holy Ghost which sanctifies, that is, we have been set apart for something greater than pleasing ourselves found in Romans 8:12-13 and the ultimate setting apart in Romans 12:1-2. Now that one has been born again, how shall that person live? According to the Spirit, not pleasing the flesh or submitting to it. God has provided the possibility for a believer to live graciously through the power of the Holy Spirit, and one can find the ethics for living this life in Chapters 12-14.…

Righteousness – In Romans, righteousness is actually dependent on God where He declares the believer righteous in his eyes, free of all sin. – Paul uses the term justification to describe how God used Christ to take the punishment of sin for the entire world at the cross and declare men righteous. Paul uses faith as a way to demonstrate how believers are able to become righteous through faith. Not by any working of their own but because they trust God to do what He has declared to do such as Abraham trusting God to make Abraham a father of many…

    1. According to Hauser what are the main challenges to the faith today? According to Hauser, “It is a question of conviction – do we really believe that only in the mystery of the Word made flesh does the mystery of man truly become clear (cf. Gaudium et Spes, 22)? Are we ready to commit our entire selves – intellect and will, mind and heart to God?” These are essential questions that stand at the foundation of any Catholic education. In a special way the study of theology reflects a Catholic university’s commitment to the faith of the Church and the truth of the human person. Theology is described by St. Anselm as “faith seeking understanding.” And since the content of the faith is Christ, theology is an examination of this truth, the one truth, the truth of Christ. But does this truth and commitment to this truth really guide Catholic higher education today in the multiple aspects of it life? Are these institutions of higher learning really committed to the truth of Christ and the mission of the Church? I believe Hauser is also saying that the theologians of today have been unable to meet the demands of both the teaching of the true faith AND answering the challenges of today’s society. Hauser continues, “It could be argued that the foundation for a solution to this tension has been laid by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, who in their writings defend and articulate the faith and its significance for modern life. Yet the academy, imbued with the skepticism of such authority rejects it as narrow and retreats to the insular world where they are king. Many argue that Catholic higher education can best serve the world by returning to her origin.” In effect, the Church seems stuck in the past as she tries to maintain her sense of self and purpose. Additionally, when one doesn’t get the answers one needs, in this world of rush and hurry, one tends to become uninterested and move on to where the answers seem to be, even if that…
