to a delinquent career as presented by Rolf Loeber. Uniform Crime Reporting, National Crime Victimization, Juvenile Court Statistics, and Self-Report Surveys are the four-major sources of data on juvenile delinquencies. Uniform Crime Reporting is a arrest report of crime in the U.S. It sponsored by the FBI and compares the crimes of youth to adults. National Crime Victimization is administered by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, and it is the number of victims. Juvenile Court Statistics is released annually by the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency, youths come into this system by petition or complaint. Self-Report Surveys, survey questionnaire, it allows the youth to select responses without any interference.
With regards to validity, it is hard for researches to determine if the youth is telling the truth. They find that delinquent youths are more likely to tell the truth then those who have never committed a crime or is delinquent. Reliability gauges in the consistency that the questionnaire provides. Researches try to get the same answers for the same question that the same juvenile provides.
A Cohort Study or group is defined as a group of people in this case juveniles that have something in common. It can be as simple as being born the same year, the year they graduated, or the first arrest in the same year.

The best predictor of length or intensity of delinquent careers is the age of onset.
It predicts who is more likely to become an offender or chronic offenders at an early age. They also show showed who were first convicted between 10 to 12 years of age or at a higher rate and for how long of a period. Last, it shows the differences of delinquencies between early and late starts for youth offenders.
Chronic youthful offenders consists of a majority of active offenders, and how they account for a small number of disproportionate share of crimes, Researchers examine youth's social background, coming from chronic offenders are identified by cohort studies as a growing amount of underclass minorities.
Authority conflict pathway, covert pathway, and overt pathway are the three paths to delinquent careers. Authority conflict pathways are deviances that begin early on in a youth's life, it begins with stubborn behavior and moves toward defiance, and eventually authority avoidance. Covert pathways are delinquent careers that are minor underhanded behaviors, which lead to property damage, and then escalate to serious forms of theft or fraud. Overt Pathways begin with minor aggression, grow into physical fighting, and escalates to high violent
delinquencies.
