In addition to that, it also specifically states the author’s opinion of a distinct character from Dr. Jose Rizal’s novel El Filibusterismo if he can be considered as a hero or not. And this character played a big role in the novel for he was good man that was transformed by his sufferings and loss. He is Kabesang Tales.
II. Significance of the Topic
Through this research about Kabesang Tales, the students will be able to review one of the greatest novels of Rizal, El Filibusterismo. It can deeper ones understanding in the writing and internalize the story more than they did before. The symbolism hidden between this specific character may also be revealed and that it can be comparable to the people in the country of today. This character may even possibly give an eye opening to anyone who has learned about his life, his work and the things he was fighting for.
The discussion on determining whether Kabesang Tales is a hero or not will also help us students to distinguish the model characteristics and understand what it means to be a hero. Through researching, we may be able to expand our knowledge in classifying people that we may foresee as heroes if they are fit for the title or not. It may also tingle our curiosity to review our fellow countrymen in the past that had received this prestigious label. And maybe in the upcoming years, if anyone was up for the title or even of ourselves, identify a person, we may speak our minds if he or she deserves to be in line with our greatest national heroes.
III. Conclusion
Kabesang Tales was able to fulfill the first and the third criteria to be a hero but failed to uplift the second. The main reason was of him killing the priest and the farmer with his wife.
