There comes a time in everyones life when it becomes imperative that they have a job. Unfortunately as much as i tried to obviate it, that time came when
i turned sixteen. As a result, i ended up landing a job at a gas station famously known as Quiktrip. At first I struggled severely with the register and the variety of programs on it. For the longest time i was unfamiliar with where certain buttons where and what buttons were appropriate to press during a transaction. If that was not bad enough I also had to memorize the onus of daily assignments we had to complete. Therefore, the first couple weeks of Quiktrip were absolutely miserable and i thought i would never learn how to do the job correctly.
There is an old quote which says "practice makes perfect" and that statement was evident with each day. Not only was I becoming more comfortable at the register, but i was also able to complete my daily assignments at the same time. Furthermore, I also became more comfortable asking questions and doing general upkeeps on the store. In addition, by keeping an open mind and remembering my debacles i am able to remember the proper order and category each item should be in. Finally, by applying myself everyday i was able to become more sedulous and effective in all areas of my life.
Even with experience and practice, there are still times where we make mistakes, it is human nature. Personally, i would call myself a perfectionist, so i tend to beat myself up over the smallest of things. However, I have come to the realization that if I put an emphasis on all my mistakes I will live a dreadful life. Therefore, i have trained my brain to not look at mistakes as necessarily negative, but as an opportunity to learn and correct my previous mistakes. Ultimately, by training my brain to think this way i have been more enthusiastic and emotionally healthy than I was at the earlier stages of my employment.
In conclusion, It is extraordinarily important not to view mistakes as failures but opportunities to learn and grow. In addition, it is important to put ignorance aside and open our mind to alternative insights and interests. The sense of rightness humans have been trained to have can become an aegis to reality. If only mankind learned to hear out others and eradicated this foolish concept maybe then could we reduce the amount of mistakes made in the first place. In conclusion, making mistakes is what makes us human and unique and without them the world would be a dull, uneventful place.
