The 20th century is the age of rapid engineering progress and amazing scientific discoveries. Many of all the modern miracles of scientific and engineering progress became possible due to the development of information and computing technique. It, as you know, plays more and more important role in our everyday life —as well as in industry, business, agriculture, science and others fields of life.
At present it is difficult to imagine our civilization without computing technique. Computing technique being used for a wide variety of applications in the national economy will permit the engineers to work in various fields of it. These are some of the reasons of my becoming a student of the KPI Information and Computing technique Department (Faculty). The Department of Information and Computing technique of the institute is relatively a new one. It was firstly organized in March, 1960 as a computer engineering department, then department of computer systems engineers. And it was the first in Ukraine Computer Engineering Department! It has a deep background in computer system design, development and teaching, actively engaged in computer system and software research in Ukraine. It is an experienced consultant in the areas of computer hardware, software and applications for a number of research and development institutions.
In practice the Department establishment was begun in 1956 when lectures on "Computers and their units" as well as laboratory work on this subject were conducted for the first time. The exMinistry of High and Secondary special Education of the former USSR gave permission to train two groups of students in this new field ( speciality). The so-called Department of Information Science helped the newly organized Department in scheduling, selection of staff, training of first specialists, etc.
That very year 10 students from Chinese People's Republic began to study the computer science. A group of KPI graduates from Radio and

The period before 1941 can also be referred to as the pre-war period before the Japanese Occupation. The Southeast Asian nationalist movements then had similar achievements and limitations. Their achievements were scarce as the majority of the population was politically apathetic. To add to this, the nationalist groups often lacked mass support and military strength. The greatest achievement of these nationalist movements, though, would be that they managed to unify a diverse group of people who had little in common by providing them with a common cause – to overthrow the colonial government.…

During the 1940s, as newer and more powerful computing machines were developed, the term computer came to refer to the machines rather than their human predecessors.
