Kennedy Assassination Reflection
How will future generations recollect September 11, 2001? How will it compare in our national recollection with the Battles of Saratoga, Pearl Harbor, or Kennedy assassination? There are many that believe it will pale in comparison, but there are also many that believe that it will be just as memorable. All of these events left Americans feeling anguish, despair, and fear. We can reach you, we shall touch you, and we will kill you, were just some things that my daughter felt the terrorists were saying to her. I had hoped my children would live a life free of trepidation, a life in which the international community would be a source of interest and concern, not consuming apprehensiveness. The impact that day had on my child was profound as
it did many young children. Millennia’s view the assailments on September 11th as the most consequential influence shaping the postures and credence’s of the generation. Many believe that terrorism will always be a hazard. Americans learned to view themselves differently not as an individual nation but into a nation connected to the rest of the world. It’s the event in September that connected us to the rest of the world. Those that were young children may never remember a time where there was not high security everywhere, where there was not a safety drill for more than just tornados and fire. Children will not know of the time when you could meet your loved ones at the gate in the airport. They know only of the times where only ticketed passengers can go through security, and the array of machinery and procedures to scan for weapons and destructive items. They will be more prepared to take of their shoes at the airport and only take certain sized containers on an airplane. Americans thought that nothing like September 11th could happen and we now realize we are not invincible, and it helped put into perspective what is important.
