    Sunny Side Up Book Review

Your book Sunny Side Up was a great book. I enjoyed it a lot. This book has taught me the hardships of having a brother that has an addiction to alcohol, but to still somehow stay happy. My favorite part of the book is when Sunny went to Disney World. Sunny was not so excited when she found out that she was going to visit her grandpa in Florida. The upside to that was that Disney World was in Florida, so she was hoping that her grandpa would take her before she left. She ended up finding out that Disney was around two hours from where she was at. This made her sad. A few days before she left, her grandpa had told her that they were going to Disney World. Now she was super excited about this. She went…

Michael Gerard Bauer dealt with a topic that relates to the age group I’m in now. “Don’t Call Me Ishmael” was written about teen hood: Bullying, coping, low self esteem, self consciousness, the list could go on and St Daniels College is the place where it all happens. Ishmael is a fourteen year old boy who goes through the problems that I see teens face every day. His mates are nonetheless social outcasts themselves. All the characters in Bauer’s book deals with their own individual problems.…

The renowned author Ellen Hopkins never disappoints with her unique novels. Identical follows the lives of sixteen year old twins who battle their oncoming demons everyday. Kaeleigh is the perfect student and the perfect child. Yet ever since she was nine, her corrupt father has sexually abused her because of the absence of his wife, who is away campaigning for congress. Raeanne doesn’t want to come second in her father's eyes so she turns to drugs and sex to fill the void in her heart. This novel should be banned to young high school students because of the extent of drug use, the explicit and vivid sex and rape scenes, along with inappropriate relationships, and self harm. However, this is the best novel I have ever read. Hopkins wraps the reader into the realistic lives of the twins, which are about ready to shatter.…

The book I have chosen to complete my ISP journal on is Theories of Relativity by Barbara Haworth-Attard. The second half of the book begins with Dylan planning a trip to Murdock to try to move in with his grandparents. However, this plan fails miserably when he discovers that his grandmother has died and his grandfather is soon to follow. His situation only worsens when he returns to Toronto; Dylan is brutally beaten by Brendan’s men for his attempt at running away with Jenna. To help cope with the pain of broken bones and sore muscles from the beating, Dylan accepts some mysterious pills from Jenna. He soon becomes addicted to them and longs for more. He then realizes that he has been betrayed by Jenna and soon finds himself indebted to Brendan. Due to the severity of these events Dylan begins to reflect on the type of life he is living. He is fed up and realizes he needs to turn his life around. After being denied another loan from Glen, Dylan takes the first step to turning his life around by accepting a job offer as tutor at a computer lab. The main themes of this book would be family relationships, homelessness, nature versus nurture and always staying true to one’s moral values.…
