Kent State University Cover Letter Sample
It is with great pleasure that I submit my resume and cover letter for the position of Residence Assistant entry level opening at Kent State University. I believe that my outstanding academic history at Avon Lake High School and at Kent State University, along with my work experience at Architectural Visions Group and Ground Level Painting, will be more than adequate for the community of Residence Services and student body. Having grown up with three younger sisters, I am fully capable of mediating between sides, being a role model for the younger generations, even the older ones, and finding fair solutions that benefit all. I have the luxury to assist my sisters and my peers with their school work because of my academic knowledge and diverse interests. If appointed to this position, I will do whatever reasonable solution it takes to represent the interests of the university in maintaining peace, continuity, and excellence in everyday university life. My first experience as a leader was during my final season on the Saint Demetrios Men’s Basketball Team. Since I was one of the better senior members on the team I became a captain. I learned to effectively communicate the player’s wishes and concerns to the …show more content…
I have enriched my time management and decision making skills because of the choices I have made spending my time efficiently. I am also part of the Kent State Wind Ensemble as a freshman which is difficult in its own right, but even more important I have learned to be a team player so that the Wind Ensemble works in harmony and perfect balance. In closing, I am elated at the possibility of being involved in the Kent State community and I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the value that I can bring to the Residence Assistant position to make our university a better place for every student on campus. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to present my

Not everyone has it in them to be a great leader. Most people do, but do not accept the challenge. Some people may also believe that they are leaders but are not truly fit or put the position to lead in a way that would be aspiring to others. According to Mrs. Stephanie Fontenot, leadership is one of the most important aspects in the classroom and on the basketball court. As soon as she was asked the question,…

As a player for the Hanford West basketball team, I was placed into situations that required me to step up and be the leader of the team. One of these situations was during a game when our most talented player had been injured. I know my teammates relied on me to be the one to look up to for all the answers. I was certain I would have to go beyond my capabilities to lead this unit to victory. The game started off horribly because of the evident lack of effort from our team. As the commander of this group of young men I knew something had to change. I stepped out of my comfort zone and became very vocal in order to get some motivation pumping through our veins. Every time my teammates made a play I would be sure to acknowledge them in some way, whether it was a high five or a nod. This made me realize feedback is essential when taking on the leadership role in order to boost self the confidence of others. As the game went on we managed to pull off an outstanding team victory.…

Leadership is a prized commodity, however, it is not one that has always come naturally to me. I was a rather quiet kid growing up, and so I rarely let my voice be heard while I was at school. Despite my timid nature, I was able to develop enough self-confidence to open up to others and share my feelings through baseball. Baseball is truly a team sport, requiring constant communication and trust between teammates. As such, the close companionship I held with my team mates created the ideal environment for me to develop my leadership skills. Base running was always my strongest skill, so I constantly found myself teaching my teammates how to gain the advantage. I became the unofficial base running coach year after year, even as the teams changed…

I believe that I exhibit leadership skills in school, both in class and on the hockey field, which has helped further develop my organizational and leadership skills. Preparatory school has marked a few of my significant leadership roles, such as being voted class representative for three years, being picked as a library prefect in year four, and finally chosen by teachers to a prefect in year eight. I have also been captain and co-captain of several netball, hockey and rounders teams. I believe that these leadership roles provided a great platform for me to continue to nurture my leadership skills. In addition, I believe that my leadership skills are not just exhibited in school, but also in Church.…

In freshmen in high school, my coach told me that I was taking charge of the team, since the captain was absent. At first, I was excited that I was able to demonstrate my leadership qualities, but then pressure was piled onto me as I try to figure out how I should behave. However, I took a minute think back to what my captain typically did for warm-ups. What I found was my teammates taking me seriously and respected how I started practice.…

Although I may not hold any official leadership positions, I believe that I possess the necessary characteristics needed in any good leader and enjoy utilizing them. The main place that I see myself as a leader is on the soccer field. On the JV soccer team for the last two years, I played nearly every available minute at center back, or middle defense, rarely coming off the field. As a player who can see nearly the entire field, a center back has many other jobs other than one on one defending. One of the center back's principle responsibilities is to make sure that all of the other nine outfield players are in the correct position.…
