Serving the community is a very important thing to me, not just within the school community, but also into the Kenyan community. Beginning from my childhood, anytime I would go upcountry, I would always carry a bag of sweets to give to the impoverished children I would find, or carry my keyboard along with me to play the children songs in Church. I believe that I have nurtured these simple acts of service into my spending of several weeks this past few summers volunteering at the Nest, which is an orphanage for young children. Growing up, my parents have taught me the value of giving, that because I am privileged, I should always give back to society. My times at the Nest continue to teach me how reaching out to others although it might be hard to relate, is so rewarding. I believe that I exhibit leadership skills in school, both in class and on the hockey field, which has helped further develop my organizational and leadership skills. Preparatory school has marked a few of my significant leadership roles, such as being voted class representative for three years, being picked as a library prefect in year four, and finally chosen by teachers to a prefect in year eight. I have also been captain and co-captain of several netball, hockey and rounders teams. I believe that these leadership roles provided a great platform for me to continue to nurture my leadership skills. In addition, I believe that my leadership skills are not just exhibited in school, but also in Church. For the past year, I have been an usher, and I have also participated in several plays and musicals in Church. From my one year experience of Middle School, I was chosen to become a member of Worship Team, which enable me to know and connect with people on a different level, and lead worship in chapel. I believe I also exhibited my academical leadership skills to the MUN judging panel of 2016-17, which enabled me to join the MUN program for my freshman year which strengthened my leadership and conversational skills, which are essential in NHS. Having the exposure of several conferences thanks to MUN, and even having the opportunity to participate in an International Conference in Budapest,
