National Honor Society Leadership Analysis
Character, service, and leadership all seem to be connected through one common concept; fostering a positive community in all aspects. If accepted into National Honors Society, I will uphold the ideals of “leadership, service, and character” through continued volunteer work, using the opportunity to serve others in my community, and use my position within the Society to be a catalyst for change.

If accepted, I intend to uphold the leadership aspect of the National Honor Society by contributing in meaningful ways to my community. I feel as though I have created forward momentum already by getting out in my community. This is shown through my time involved in 4-H, the leadership positions I held within it (President and Secretary), and the volunteer initiatives I have led in the past. In my opinion, a leader also needs the ability to be open-minded and independent; qualities I think are ingrained in myself. On the contrary, it is also necessary for a leader to be able to draw intrigue

Compassion then becomes an overwhelming part of one's character. Heraclitus once uttered the words, “Character is destiny”. I firmly believe that compassion and humanity for others practiced regularly, has the opportunity to change the destiny of not only the individual, but also the environment in which they exist. As a part of National Honor Society, it is my personal goal to encourage my fellow classmates and neighbors alike to get out in our community and be of assistance to others.

I believe that my acceptance into National Honor Society would not only further my chances to be a leader in my community, but also serve the community myself. On the flip side of that statement, I also think that my ability to be a successful leader will serve my fellow students well as a part of National Honor Society. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I thank you for the time spent reading this

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

I was part of the Future Leaders of York program in 2016. The program is for high school sophomores and juniors from York county. “FLY” taught me how to be a lifelong, responsible, and active leader in my hometown community. The program ran from September to May and included 6 day-long sessions, an opening retreat, and several special interest sessions. Throughout the year, I read from Leading with Character by John Sosik. Sosik explained that their are 6 types of effective leader characteristics: humanity, wisdom, transcendence, temperance, courage, and justice. Each session focused on these aspects of leadership. My experience was incredibly informative as it helped me grow personally and it prepared my for my future endeavors.…

Being a member in National Honor Society implies that you are a person of great character. One of the most important qualities that you can possess is leadership. Honesty is one of the key factors to being a good leader. You must be honest towards everyone, and in everything that you do. If a leader wasn't honest, then no one would trust them. And if they weren't trustworthy then who would want to follow their lead? Leadership also requires that you have an optimistic attitude about everything. You have to take control, and look for the best in every situation. No one wants to follow someone who is always in a bad mood, and always looks for something to complain about.…

As quite the introvert, I never would have imagined myself as the secretary of such a renowned organization: the National Honor Society. However, I had decided to take on the challenge of running for board, requiring me to give a speech to our 500+ NHS members. My strengths did not lie in public speaking or persuasion like the other candidates. Instead, my speech involved me singing Mulan’s “Be a Man,” using ingenuity and humor to win over opinions. I believe that pushing yourself into an unfamiliar situation is the best way to learn and grow, as this approach demands problem solving and innovative thinking. NHS has pushed me to be more outgoing and active in the community by giving me the privilege of leadership, and I would definitely serve…

The four pillars of National Honors Society, scholarship, service, leadership, and character, have paved a path for me as a student and as a person. Scholarship has taught me to strive to be the best student I can be. I use scholarship to keep up with my school work and never give up when a class is hard. I always strive for the best grade I can get and I will stop at nothing until I reach my goal. I will continue to use scholarship as I go to college and pursue my dream as a pediatric dentist. I will study, I will learn, and I will never give up no matter what happens along the way. I use service when I volunteered to help my local private school. I was never asked to do so, but I felt as if I was giving back to a school that had done so much…

There are many ways one may contribute to their society. Some people may use their intelligence in order to advance society; some may lead the country to be a better future; some may make the world to be a better place just by being in it; and some may volunteer their time to help others. It’s difficult to find one person who possesses and contributes all of these qualities, but I am sure I do. Because the standards for entrance into the Junior Honors Society are leadership, scholarship, character, and service, I believe that I am more qualified for entrance into an organization as prestigious as the Junior Honors Society. Throughout my years as a Meridian Public Charter School student, I believe that I have demonstrated all of these attributes. First and foremost, I am an excellent scholar. At the end of my elementary school years I believe I have been the smartest of them all. Also, my GPA has never gone below a 3.6 and I have never received a grade less than a B-. I believe that fact of being nominated for the Junior Honors Society shows my academic achievement in itself. I am also capable of being an honorable leader. I am trustworthy and responsible. As a student, it is a great honor to be just nominated as candidate for National Honor society. It shows me that I have been working hard to stand out more than others. Throughout my high school career, I want to be one of the top and I have been trying to reach that goal. I have chosen to take all honor classes to help me get there. I also show traits that could make me a good leader. I was also elected to go to the North Suburban Leadership Conference. I like to go out and meet new people, and I think NHS is a good place to explore and meet new people. I also like to volunteer and help people do things that need to be done. I help out in the garden here at the high school in the summer, help set up chairs and tables for community day, and I also help the youth football team with the “chain gang” during their football season. I also help at my church clothes donations to the less fortunate people. I feel NHS would make me stay more focus on what I need to do and also teach me more responsibility. Being in NHS would make me be an example which would hold me to act with higher standards than other students. It seems like when you’re in NHS you travel and meet more people, and I like to take those types of trips as a teenager. Also being in NHS gives me a better chance to get into colleges of my choice. I really want to go to college, and this program makes more colleges interested in me. I hope I get elected to become a member of the National Honors Society and represent it in a good and positive…

In my school, I am a vital member of our television program and I am the “go to guy” for unknown problems or difficult tasks. My school also has a Technology Students Association (TSA) chapter and in my junior year of high school I was the vice president. In my senior year I am running for president. I am also a member of our National Honors Society chapter and will help lead and guide new member into a new year of service. In addition to these, I was selected by the school as the student of the month. From there, the nearby Rotary International club sponsored me to go to a leadership training camp at Messiah College over the summer. It was there that I learned a lot about leadership and that it is more than just leading people but it is serving them. A servant leader is well accepted and very efficient as those they lead respect and often like to be around…
