meeting to learn and have a good time. I learned a lot in that time as I understood what it meant to be a leader of a faltering institution. I also achieved my Eagle rank, the pinnacle award in Boy Scouts.
By the end of my year as leader, I thought I could be done.
I thought that I could “retire from scouts”. Little did I know that I was just getting started as I was inducted into the Boy Scouts national honors society, also known as the Order of the Arrow (OA). In the year that followed, I had another trip of ups, downs, twists, and turns. I got involved in the OA and took a chapter chief leadership position. This meant I was in charge of making sure the 20 troops that I served functioned well and that their OA members were helping their troops. I attended many trainings such as a Regional seminar in New Jersey and a National seminar at Indiana University called #NEXT. I had a grand time and by the end of that term I was ready for more; I was ready to serve the OA as best I could. I ran for Lodge office (one step above the chapters) and got what is equivalent to vice president. I will be serving this leadership role over my senior year of high …show more content…
school.
I am more involved in leadership than just Boy Scouts.
In my school, I am a vital member of our television program and I am the “go to guy” for unknown problems or difficult tasks. My school also has a Technology Students Association (TSA) chapter and in my junior year of high school I was the vice president. In my senior year I am running for president. I am also a member of our National Honors Society chapter and will help lead and guide new member into a new year of service. In addition to these, I was selected by the school as the student of the month. From there, the nearby Rotary International club sponsored me to go to a leadership training camp at Messiah College over the summer. It was there that I learned a lot about leadership and that it is more than just leading people but it is serving them. A servant leader is well accepted and very efficient as those they lead respect and often like to be around
them.
