National Honor Society Research Paper

Along with many other achievements in the last three years, my involvement in National Honors Society is one of the most significant. In the past two years I have been a part of National Honors Society at my high school. The four pillars of NHS include: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. I believe I am a leading exemplar of those standards. Scholarship entails more than just getting good grades. It is achieving recognizable grades in rigorous courses that challenge you to learn outside of your comfort zone. National Honors Society has encouraged me to make an impact on my community. Community service is not an obligation, it is a choice I make because it is selfless and rewarding in ways far beyond words. Volunteering is doing
something for the goodness of others, and our world would be nothing without it.
Not only do I have the privilege to be looked upon as a leader by my school, community and my peers but specifically my graduating class. As a member of NHS and a nominated class officer I feel as though my roles include a tremendous amount of responsibility. Financial planning is an important part of my role as a class officer which is also a useful skill in life and specifically business. Character is something that no standardized test can evaluate. Character is who someone is when others aren’t watching. I firmly believe my experiences and the role-models in my life have shaped me to be a person that does not go unnoticed in a community. Being apart of National Honors Society is more than just a label to me, it has become a way of life.
